At my last school presentation, a young boy tugged at my arm & asked if I would like to metal detect his yard. Now this happens at every talk I give, but with some adult groups it's led to some sweet permissions. So, I calmly asked if he lived in an old house? The boy said, "REAL old, like 1700's". Now that got my attention
To make a long story short, we set up a meeting through his father, and I met him & his older brother on Sat. to teach them about detecting in their own yard.
I brought an F75 & a T2. They were very interested & listened well, & seemed to pick detecting up right away....

I wasn't sure how long their attention span would be, but they lasted the entire day & said they were having a ball. They were building up quite a collection of all different types of relics. Pocket knife, ox shoes, flat buttons, wheat pennies, etc....
But I kept telling them there had to be some silver coins in the yard someplace & how it would come out shiney....
Finally, in the afternoon they saw what I was talking about when this popped out of the plug....

They were very excited they had found their first Barber quarter! Their dad was right there to share in their joy.

I snapped this photo right after they found it......
their excitement was priceless & you can see it here.

This is what the hobby is all about, & the F75 worked very well for this with the sensitivity turned way down & disc up a little. I tought them to just dig solid, repeatable signals. They kept everything that was found for a start of their own collection.
They said I could come back anytime which will be great.....
