Key Date 1901s Barber dime found:hot::detecting:

I went back across the street to the Christmas tree farm. At the start of my second row I found a 1901s Barber dime. It needs some cleaning but I am going to see if it is worth having it professionaly cleaned, graded and slabbed. In bad shape the book has it at $80.00 bucks. I

If he is buried in Cali I just might:detecting:

Congratulations on a great find. Hope this is a sign of things to come.

That's the next step. I need to get it cleaned. I will see a coin dealer hopefully tomorrow.

I love finding BARBERS. I have only found one but I loved finding it. Good job on that true gem.

Wow. You suck.

(I mean, I'm green with envy.)

If you have it slabbed, don't go with the Big Two like PCGS or NGC, because they'll just "bodybag" it for the cleaning and/or environmental damage, and you end up eating the submission fees. Go with ANACS, perhaps, since though they might note problems like environmental damage on the label, they'll still grade and encapsulate it for you no matter what. Send a problem coin to the Big Two, and you kiss your money goodbye- all you get is your coin back and no refund.

NGC does have its NCS (Numismatic Conservation Services) subsidiary, however, that handles the professional cleaning and so on, and will encapsulate the coin for you. Come to think of it, I believe NCS is your best bet with this piece.

It just doesn't look that great in a flip all black.
