When I changed tones I noticed rhat I was missing a componet on my circut board,
i circled it in white. The 2 pins are there. I have sov eleite.

Sorry to butt in, that's the crystal. Hard to believe you are able to use the detector!

There should be another one in there somewhere on the elite......for the band switch.

I don't think I saw any crystal on the board. I will look again tonight. I was also wondering why my elite is falseing
all the time unless I set sensitivity to auto and it's OK.I have used my Fisher cz and x terra 70 at same site and run sensitivity at 80% and they work great.
Is it normal for the sov elite to be that sensitive that in order to run some what steady you have to run in factory preset ?

Elites and GTs have 2 crystals. That picture looks like an older sov.
You probably got into a noisy area. There is an inherent problem with Sovs here, as all the operating frequencies are harmonics of the 60 hz electrical power, and you get a lot of falsing in noisy spots that won't bother a lot of other detectors very much.
You will also learn not to try to run a sov the same way you would run anything else.

As joecoin says that is the cystal, the photo is of the XS2a(one i had handy) although they very similar to the elite, GT but it will be there. Something to remember is the sensitivity works counterclockwise, the closer to the Auto click the higher the sensitivity, turn it clockwise to decrease
