...... that this door handle was attached to.

I cleaned the backside, and didn't find any markings. I'm guessing 50's to early 60's or possibly even earlier.

Any help?

BTW- This rang in at 9 - 9+, B-C sized on the 2500
 
I could be mistaken but it looks like a VW Beetle handle, the old one. Check the handle closer to the center of the door in this pic:

That reminds me of a video I watched for the song "Rusty Chevrolet" it starts out with a guy walking on top of snow using a metal detector to find his car that is completely burried under the snow.
 
The closest one I can find in design is a 65-66 Ford Galaxie interior handle. Same basic design, but no ridges around the edge and no hole through the center for mounting.

I'll take a wire brush to the inside to see if I can uncover some markings.
