Kellyco sale on Friday, except Tesoro - :sadwalk:

I had gotten an email from Kellyco about a 20% off sale in store only on Friday. Wow I thought here is a chance to add another Tesoro so my little Compadre does not get lonely. Made a call today to verify, but oh no there were exclusions. The Tesoro units are not part of the sale. Almost all the other brands are but not Tesoro. Dang, that would have been a great deal. Oh well, that happens. Don't get me wrong the Kellyco folks are great to work with and I enjoy doing business with them. I guess Tesoro was just decided not to participate in the event.

Kellyco is a joke. They accepted payment for items they had advertised only to inform me that the item was out of stock. Their shipping rates are absurd where as almost all other dealers I've ordered from ship for free.

Do you know of any dealers that will give a better deal this Friday on A Tesoro.

i never had a problem. though i always call to order. like most other places, orders over 100 dollars they ship for free. i got my vaquero from them. called and ordered late tuesday afternoon. recieved it friday morning up here in maine. was not charged shipping or sales tax. the price they showed for it on their website is all i paid. no complaints from me. thought that was great.

Call a forum sponsor. Key word being Call.

I bought two detectors from them as well as other items and never had a problem. I called last week and also checked on a Vaquero and was informed that I would also have free shipping and no sales tax. I am waiting to order on Friday. I ordered small items before from Kellyco and they shipped it cheaper when asked. I will buy from them again because the price is the same no matter who you buy from and I also order over the phone like jld66.

When ever I order from Kellyco, I always ask for a discount and get it. Basically I say "whats your best price. Can you do it for $XXX"? I don't think I've ever paid the price shown on any detector. When I bought an Etrac they gave me $150 off, simply because I asked them to meet my price,

Some detectors are grossly over priced to begin with so they can be discounted for those buyers who don't think they're getting a deal unless the seller comes off the price. It works! I mean $899 MSRP for a detector, get real! Some prices are jacked up to begin with. For example, Schick sells Trac II blades for around $15.00 for a ten pack. I can buy the same exact ten pack of blades (made by Schick) but with out their name on it for $1.80. The higher price is for those people who think paying more for something gets them something better. They really get excited and think that they're getting a great deal when they can get 20% off of the $15.00 jacked up sale price.

Just a heads up, Tesoro does not allow us to discount anything with their products. We sign specific agreements with all of the companies that we work with and for example we cannot ship Garrett products outside of the US. If we do, it's possible we could lose our contract with them. So, if Tesoro says no discounts, it's no discounts. We can't go against our contractual obligations with them. We are always happy to work on pricing and shipping for our customers also as long as we are able to do so. For exampke, just a few minutes ago, I had a genlteman who placed an order and the shipping came to nearly 50.00. I dropped it down to 15 for him because I wanted to make sure he had a great experience here at Kellyco. As sales reps we do everything we can to meet the customer halfway and make sure that we offer competitive pricing. Now, the standard pricing for detectors is called MAP pricing. No retailer is allowed to advertise lower than that price. Period. If they do they can lose their contract with that manufacturer. GoPro is the same way. Most companies, even car dealerships are taking on this practice so that across the board customers know what to expect. Now, we can work out deals and make sure we stay competitive in an already competitive market so always call if you have any questions about shipping prices, billing etc. All of you can get a hold of me as my information will be in my signature. Always happy to help and stay competitive. Happy Hunting!

I thought Gillette made the Trac 2 Tabman. I used that razor a long time ago and liked it but blades got hard to find for it locally and were expensive.

Thats actually a smart move on Tesoro's part..this is probably the big time of the year for detector purchases, second only to 'tax return' time?...why give away profit when folks are in the buying mood?

I guess like kellycochris said, this is their year round policy...so the strategy I offered doesnt hold water..its probably easier to keep things level, let the distributors get creative on their end with discounting the add-ons or freight...at least Tesoro has an idea of its GP/unit and keeps it fair for all their Distributors by not allowing or offering any discounts...its a simple and easy to manage policy that is policed by the other distributors if they get a whiff of somebody else running game....

I really appreciate Kellyco replying into my comment. Now I know what the deal is and if that is the deal that Tesoro wanted I understand and support it. Any business has to stick by their pricing policies and guidelines. They stay in business because they make a profit that pays the expenses and provides for growth. I've wondered however as effective as my Compadre is it does sort of keep me from buying another unit. I was simply interested in something I could get wet and take along in the kayak. Those Tiger Sharks are interesting but a bit costly.

Gillette made the Trac II Razor and blades. Schick ended up making blades for the Gillette Trac II Razor. They are really good blades and are expensive as well.

The deal that found are on generic Trac II blades (quietly made by Schick). You can get a hundred of them for $18 shipped. That's 18 cents a blade.

I ended up getting seven hundred blades. I know a deal when I see one.:)

JMC, those Tiger Sharks are worth every penny you pay for them. Trust me on that one.
