Keeping dry in the rain

How do you folks protect your control box from the rain? I've tried the baggie thing and it's OK but figured all you long time detector users would have a better idea.

Yeah, not a long time detectorist, but I have tried that baggie thing a few times...didn't work worth a tinkers cuss ...lots of humidity got into my control box...so now what i do is to drape a towel over the box, like a medium sized towel larger than a dishrag, but smaller than a bath towel...it works great in a mist, drizzle, and medium rain, absorbs all the wetness, but the BIG rain is a problem not only with the box, but with the headphones too...still, its really nice to hunt in the rain, nobody out, easy digging, sure a guy gets soaked clear down to the skivvies, but big deal! Probably good for a feller every so often as long as you have not been diagnosed with "wet bone" or some other water related malady...
The primary issue of course is keeping your gear safe.. so...I got a waterproof machine with waterproof 'phones to extend my season and not let the weather shut me down...that seems to be the best answer outside of taking a pair of Froggtogg pants, cut one leg off, and modifying it to cover your phones and box in one long tube of waterproof breathable fabric...looks stupid as hell, but like I said, theres nobody out to see you anyway.
Mud.

I do the baggie thing and head for the truck. I just don't hunt in the rain.

I don't generally hunt in the rain, but if I wanted to I'd use my Tiger Shark - water resistant to 200feet.

Same here. I always keep a couple baggies in my pocket in case of a down pour.

They make great rain covers for my phone and detector until I can get back to my vehicle.

JMC,
I was browsing eBay one day and found a rain cover for my Compadre. I bought it instantly. I've loved it ever since. Great quality, great look, and great price! I believe I paid around $15 for it. The same folks that made the one for my Compadre, makes them for every line of the Tesoro family. Check them out, hope this helps.
Thanks,
Jake

How about headphones do you think wearing them in the rain can hurt them. ?? I have Killer B's and Pro Gold. Do you think they will be destroyed !! Or better yet do they make waterproof headphones for the Sovereign and other detectors, That just screw in the same way my B's and the Pro Gold's do

I have to wonder why if I have a Lifeproof case for my iPhone 5 and waterproof cameras can't there be similar technology for a metal detector.
