Keeping busy

Good day to all you fine folk. It is still likely about a month before I can swing around here. But maybe I can hit a few tot lots until the ground thaws. Last fall I fell down a hill and mashed my middle shaft. And a replacement was shipped today. To keep busy this winter I have been taking online university classes, and my usual outdoor walks. I often walk the local creek looking for buffalo\Bison bones, arrowheads, bottles etc. Here are a few pics to give you the idea.

Love those old bottles and other eyeball finds. Great looking area to wonder around in. Sounds like you are keeping busy, but hang in there, it won't be much longer for some tecting. HH jim tn

Good stuff in those walk/eyeball finds.

Love the bottles. I did some search on them and found out about Al Capone having a connection with Sask. Do you know about his tunnels and if so have you detected the area if it is possible to do so? Lots of interesting items and history in your neck of the woods. It is still freezing here in Massachusetts but will get up to 40F today...heading for the open ocean,
Found a picture of the Drug store: It has links to the "tunnels".

Cool finds! I'd really love to find a bison skull! I have some Red River access here in Texas, and a couple have been found where I have permission to hunt. I'm always looking........but nothing yet.
Anyway, Congrats!

Those are some really nice old bottles and relics! I love eyeball finds. Taking courses on the net is a good way to make the most of the quiet winter months, too.

10 feet from it's rear end. Sorry......I couldn't resist. A good old home grown Saskatchewan joke.

On the plus side, congrats on some great bottle finds. So many times I have found the top or bottom of a bottle sticking out of the dirt, only to find out that it is split, cracked or missing pieces. I too have a similar looking area in Edmonton, which has produced some nice finds. Keep those great finds coming.

The tunnels are run as a tourist attraction and are pretty cool.............Sitting Bull and his bands came up here right after the Custer slaughter. I am unsure if I will pursue those sites this year.

What wonderful pictures! Your back-pack and all the equipment is impressive for any outing.
The variety of finds and the pot of beans...make me want to leave the post blizzard condition here in Massachusetts and walk the river bank.
If I were a dirt digger, I would have moved your way. But being a WaterWalker...I moved to Cape Cod. History is abundant here, but...you are in a unique area.
Enjoy the hobby and many thanks for the postings.

Great post! The things we learn here enriches us all. I'm confused by what looks like a cactus plant - thought that climate wouldn't support those...?
