keep tight?

I am curious if anyone would know what the keep tight thing is.Its 6" across and about 1/4" thick. There is a tiny hole in the center and threads on the back.I believe it is brass.

Looks like the cover for an air filter.

I managed to get it fairly clean and it is definitely brass. No the edge is not beveled. This came from an area were there was a logging camp.It is also rumored that some bootlegging went on there.I have found some other relics and coins that dated late 1800's to 1930's.Also some antique car tags such as a engine plate from Cadillac Motor Car Company and a Dodge Brothers radiator emblem with the star of David on it.So I am hoping the keep tight thing is from the same time period. But first I have to know what it is and what it belonged to.Thank you for your ideas.Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start my research?

My first thought was a "plug" for a 55 gallon drum, but, it might be a lid to an antique kerosene can. They had a spring loaded metal stopper that you would push slightly to the side and allow the kerosene to come out.

n/t

better than being loose as a goose....

With all the other auto parts found in the area what it looks like to me as a mechanic is an air cleaner cover that screws down over the air cleaner/stud in the carburetor
