here's the details.

Sunday I spent 4 hours at one of my favorite beaches with little to show. It had been hammered by someone relentlessly. As I was leaving one of the park attendants informed that a "white haired" guy had been hunting it regularly. With only a junk ring and stainless earring I tucked my tail between my legs and headed for the bunkhouse.

A ways up the trail to the homestead I have to pass a small local beach. Its not on my favorite list as the water and bottom conditions aren't the greatest so it gets little use. The great lakes and inland lakes have many invasive foreign species taking hold one of them being the Zebra mussel. Zebra mussels grow in little colonies. The small shells are sharp and will tear up bare feet easily. Well heck partner why not give it a try. So I pulled the trusty edge out of the saddle bag and proceeded to wander out by the weedline for any strays. Lots of old iron from docks and chains from old mooring buoys kept the headphones alive with signals. After a bit I hit some old bathing cap buckles and a few other trash items. Then, I get another big sounding signal..probably more iron.. well it did not bounce to iron and held steady in the P-tab range so I scooped it up. When I first saw it I though GREAT another junker and threw it in the pouch. After a bit I headed back to shore and for home. Taking a little closer look at the ring I saw that what I had at first thought was base metal showing thru plating was actually a buildup over solid gold. Its marked 14K, weighs a tad over 12 grams, has 4 small diamonds around the saddle and with a ruby or amethyst in the pommel.

Sure glad I went looking for a "stray"!

Jackpine, almost covered it all, but when you, "pulled the trusty edge out of the saddlebag", was that a CZ20? Kinda feelin' ya on the CZ20, but I need to hear it! Gotta have a CZ21, come-on Fisher, let's ride! YEE-HAW! Damn that's a nice piece!

I guess thats what makes the hobby so great...Certainly a dandy and one wonders what our next find will be...Keep swinging is what its all about....

Better small gold sensitivity over the CZ's and hunts the iron infested areas in fresh water better, Maybe not quite as deep on the bigger stuff

Still waitin for the Mfgr's to make that best fresh water machine. We get ignored on that count and I can't understand it either. Gots to be lots of sales made for fresh water hunting. The Tiger Shark is OK but not real friendly with half the needed controls inside.
