It was nice day here in Indiana 55 for the high got out with my new Keene when running my first bucket the box was loading up did I need more water ? I did get some small fakes so I was happy.

Would say you either need a little more water or drop or both and to maybe add your cons a little more slowly. Was wondering how small do you classify your cons down to and if you have an idea of what mesh size your gold is averaging? 20 mesh is regular screen wire size and 100 mesh is very fine or true flour gold.

I am taking the con down to 1/8 . I do not no the size of the gold it it some really small gold

Thanks! Thought it looked like about 1/8 " cons. Am going to try going down to about 16 to 20 mesh and see if that helps improve my results any.

You could try making a little dam around your sluices intake end to get more water flowing into it, also use a shovel to clear out the gravel building up at the discharge end of your sluice to keep the flow up..
Our GPAA chapter is having a gold outing at Martinsville ,Indiana weekend of April 6,7,8.We are getting a group panning permit . Ask at the park office about the Northern GPAA chapter gold outing. Anybody can come, no membership required, BUT gold pans and trowels only. Classifiers and sucker sticks are ok too.I will be there Friday afternoon, driving a blue Subaru Forester from Illinois. Hope to make some new prospecting friends. You can find small nuggets here and large flakes if you get lucky. Martinsville is sw of Indianapolis off rt 67. Event held at Morgan Monroe State Forest. Ask at park office.
