Katie digs silver dubloon...

I took Katie detecting in a woodchip playground yesterday. After finding 17 cents in change, she got a deep signal using the Tesoro metal detector. I ended up digging through 8" of woodchips, and 3" into the original ground, and saw a big silver reeled edged coin that I would have sworn was a silver dollar. After picking it up, I realized it was made of aluminum. Its a pirate coin; near as I can tell, 1950's era. May as well have been a silver dollar to her, she was very excited about her find. And in the picture below, she's trying her best not to blast out into a huge smile. A few minutes later she got another deep signal, and we dug this old spoon at 11". I think I'm going to have to take that Tesoro and try it myself.
