jw fisher Vs minelab excalibur

hello

I am interested in getting the excalibur or the pulse 8x for my underwater metal detecting. I am new to the underwater detecting so im seeking some advice as which one to get. Also I am wondering how well theses underwater detectors do on land, (not just the beach) as this is where I do most of my detecting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Paul

J.W.Fisher machines excel for deep water hunting. P.I.'s need a low uS for sensitivity (Eric Foster's machines have been moving this way for several years) while deep water P.I.'s need a higher rating.
This means that for rings/coins on a wet sand beach a Goldquest or Deepstar would give better results.
Though the Excaliber is not my favourite machine it will detect land fine and work well in the water. The J.W. Pulse I would consider a deep water/wreck search machine. Don't believe that Pulse is unaffected by ground conditions because they are unless specifically designed for land use and these machines are not suitable for use in the water.

And that (except for swearing) is the extent of my French. Levity aside, the garrett Infinium is a PI designed for both dry land hunting (prospecting/relics) and salt/freshwate (down to 200') use. I also has ground tracking and adjustable pulse delay. ..Willy.

But what you have failed to mention is that it got re-chipped to improve performance so you have a U.S. version and a Australian version. I'm in the U.K. and beach performance was similar to the old Beachscan and Surfscan models of 15 years ago. The main Garrett distributer does not even feature it in his adverts any more and the chance of seeing one in use is almost nil.
If in the U.S., you could have similar ground conditions to Australia and no doubt there's areas in Australia that mirror some U.S. sites. Which version of the detector would you need ?
The Garrett is always an option but why when its so cheap in the U.S. are people happy to pay twice as much for British and German imports ?
