Justice somewhat prevails. :garrett:

Yesterday I recovered a small cut piece of a Standing Liberty quarter and it was the bottom portion of the coin with the date of 1917. This morning tabman and I hooked up for a early morning hunt and about 30 minutes into the hunt I got a nice 89-90 reading with very little depth. I was hoping for a silver quarter, as it was a nice crisp tone. Not a little scratchy like most of those old rusty bottle caps are. As fate would have it, it was a S L quarter about 4" deep. One of those classic, whoever gets their coil over it, got it. Un-fortunately,it was another of those infamous no date varieties. Hence, justice kind of prevails since this S L today is at least whole. Since I've been stricken for a number of days now with the SUV vehicle replacement bug I cut my hunt a little short this morning to try and seek a cure. Before I left, however, I did recover a few pieces of clad and cents, 2 wheat cents, 34 and 52, and as shown, a I H cent with a date of 1896. Today's photo's are fresh from the ground shots only. Everyone have a great weekend. HH jim tn

Any SLQ = Sweet Old Silver! You sure find a bunch of cut coins. I'm just a little jealous, as I don't think I'll be trading vehicles this year. I sure could use a nice high-clearance, 4 wheel drive one, though. Or, maybe a helicopter.... yeah- dats da ticket!!

I bought a Ford Edge with 12,000 miles on it. I usually let the original buyer take the year old hit........if I can. HH jim tn

Jim that's the way to do it. A new car rolling out of the dealership's parking lot takes a big hit in depreciation. Is it chity green?

Nice going on the silver quarter..

Nice find, Jim. Elton, if you run across the issue with the way to date these SLQ, post it if you can. I have one with the date worn off. I've let both my treasure magazines lapse and the others as soon as my subscription expires. The only magazine I want to keep is Acres magazine.

Nice hunting! thawed ground to boot

I've always liked the design of the Standing Liberty quarter. I've only been fortunate to find 2, so far.

Congrat's on a good hunt with a friend....and the SLQ!
