I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge on the beaches of the outerbanks? Ihave been hunting the beaches for a few years and have noticed a couple years back when a noreaster came through and changed the beach around by pushing sand up on the beach closer to the dunes. Preasent day I have started to see the erosion process by seeing big cuts in the dunes but it seems to me that its still that same sand that was pushed up by the noreaster. My question is is can that sand push up rings and things from the ocean or is most things found on the beach already underneath your feet just waiting for a good erosion. Also are the rings and things that have been lost on the beach always there or do they get swept out to sea and back on the beach over and over again. I understand every beach is different and maybe I need a little more time to understand the process, so can anyone with local knowledge help me?

You may want to check with the Soda Pop Pirates at http://www.outerbanksnc.net/ship.html

Good Luck.

It takes a serious storm to move something like a coin or ring UP a beach. They typically move down and out until they reach a point the surf is no longer strong enough.
