On ebay someone is selling pre 65 coins for 280 a lb he lists nickels as coins u may get I thought unclad nickels were made out of nickel?

About 6 months ago a nickel contained six cents worth of metal. That means that if you went to the bank to get $100 in nickels, they would be worth $120. Nickels contain both copper metal and nickel metal. Canadian nickels used to be almost pure nickel, that is why they were attracted to a magnet.

I think I would stay away from that seller.

If the seller were advertising pre 65 coins, one could easily assume they were selling silver coins. "War Nickels" were Jefferson nickels minted from 1942 to 1945 and contained 35% silver. I have no doubt the seller is referring to war nickels and not a modern nickel. JJ
