Just wondering

At what average depth does any of you MDers find clad coins, silver coins and gold coins? I guess the smaller of each would be closer to the surface?

Just wondering.

And I didn't intro myself, so I will now. HI! I'm waltship from southwestern Ohio. It's been a long time since we got rain where we live at. It just keeps missin us. It makes it hard digging up here.

Sure enjoy your info.

Thanks

Never found any gold yet. Both other average in the 4 to 6 inch range usually. Clad is usually closer to the surface. I had pulled a wheat at about 7 inches with my Fortune Hunter and I know my Landstar will even go deeper. Not much rain here either.:detecting:

I've only been beach hunting and find the majority of my coins at about 4 inches. I have dug coins up to 12 inches on occasion. Most of the pull tabs are at about 4 inches also. Cans buried in the beach have sometimes been over 16 inches. I'm planning on doing some serious dry digging but have not completed all my research, got some super places to go. I am new to this hobby and have found lots of coins in a short time but nothing really old. As soon as the weather breaks, watch it.
Hope this helps you a little bit. HAPPY HUNTING

Found silver down as deep as 6 inches and a piece of steel about the size of a silver dollar at about 10 in the clay in our area. At a beach on the lake, found thing(coins/jewelry) as deep as 12 in moist sand. Soil conditions have an impact. When the ground here was really parched and dug like concrete. I felt lucky at two inches. Moisture and soil composition really affect your results. If heavy grass is on top. That will impact your results too. HH
