would be a good MD to go with my Cibola. $200 is a big investment for me. I hope It's worth it. Did I pay too much? It's supposed to be in very good condition.

It looks like the controls function like the Cibola. It has a different frequency. I can't remember, does it have a 120 discreminator?

Any tips or info would be appreciated.

Boy! I just can't wait for UPS to show up:sadwalk:

Couldn't go MDing for a few days, I had my car in the shop, $1300, tomorrow I'm going:detecting::clapping:

Happy hunting guys

Yes I guess I did go a little over board on the bidding. But the SS is just barely used and I really wanted it.

I'm hoping that with the 120 desc it will have a little different strong points and compliment my Cibola.

Hey Momte.... tee hee.

You'll have good luck with that tesoro silver sabre umax.. I just found this 18 kt gold ring with my silver sabre umax 2 weeks ago. I've had this Tesoro since 2001. This silver sabre umax doesn't go as deep as that Cibola, BUT IT'S A COIN MAGNET,AND IT LOVES JEWELRLY TOO! To get more jewelrly run your discrimination at: 3,and sensitivity at: 8,and ajust the thrsehold to a low hum, when you touch the pinpoint button! The Tesoro Silver Sabre Umax is great in trashy invested parks. How do you like your Cibola? I'm thinking about buying one next year. Dano.

I dunno about the Saber but the later Silver uMax I bought recently is one fun little machine. Beside a few other machines, I seem to grab the Silver to put some time into on each hunt. To me, there's a big wow and fun factor with the little Silver. It has Tesoro quality at a low cost. The discrimination is as sharp as my other tesoro's. I'm getting somewhat used to the silent AM search mode. I had been used to threshold based, so a few silent machines I have got in the past year are now coming along.
And talk about simplistic operation turn on and go, it's fun factor that can bring home goods.
Hope you have fun with it and hope to hear more about the Saber.

I can't compare it to any other Tesoros. It's the only one I have.

I like it so much I wanted to have two Tesoros. But I didn't want them to be the similar internally, like the Cibola, Vaquero and Tejon. The SSU has a different operating frequency and, as Monte confirmed, a different discriminator yet the controls are very similar. That aspect appeals to me. That way I can choose the MD for the site or as in the beginning I"ll just take both and compare. If there's two of us it will be easier to show the other person how to do it. And we won't have to fight to see who gets the Tesoro and who gets the Bounty Hunter.:starwars:

The Cibola has the ED 180 discriminator and does not reject most iron on it's lowest setting. At min it will have broken signal and barley pick up a 3 or 4" nail when swinging along the length of it. If you swing across the width of it there's no sound at all. It doesn't like barbed wire and I love that. But it's great for relics. No ground balance which they say is good for relic hunting. I personally don't miss it. Maby I don't know what I'm missing.

Cibola's depth is impressive and I couldn't get over how deep the 5.75 concentric coil will go. I hope to get 7" coil for my Silver Saber Umax.

The Cibola sounds off well on jewelry. I've only had my Cibola one month and for the first time..... now I can find jewelry:)

I'm looking forward to being a two Tesoro Man. and I plan to sell my Bounty Hunter.

I even put that Tesoro bumper sticker on my car hopping some one will ask me about it.

Happy Hunting:detecting:
I'm hoping that with the 120 desc it will have a little different strong points and compliment my Cibola.
Well, as I stated, it will be interesting to hear your replies after comparing the two of them afield.

The Cibola has a broader low-end Disc. adjustment than the Silver Sabre
If there's two of us it will be easier to show the other person how to do it. And we won't have to fight to see who gets the Tesoro and who gets the Bounty Hunter.:starwars:
Let's not forget that, due to the difference in operating frequencies, you're not likely to have interference, either. That will let you hunt closer to your 'guest.'

The Compadre has a true ED-180 Disc. range.
It doesn't like barbed wire and I love that. But it's great for relics.
There are a few sites I hunt where I need to have a true, full metal accept ability to search in the motion Disc. mode so I like to keep at least one model on hand with that capability.
No ground balance which they say is good for relic hunting. I personally don't miss it. Maby I don't know what I'm missing.
It's my opinion that having manual GB adjustment makes a model more versatile and able to operate at peak performance, This includes "relic hunting" because many devoted relic seekers like to hunt in the All Metal mode, and because 'relic hunting" encompasses searches in a wide range of ground mineral environments.

some. I think this will be a good combo for me. I can make use of both of my Tesoros. One of the good points is , my sholder hasn't hurt very much sence I've been using the Cibola. That's the main reason I would never want to use the Bounty Hunter. Even though the BH seems well balanced, it hurt my arm. Maby that's because itr comes in at 3lbs or better whith batteries.

For now I'm off to the park:detecting:

It's Raining a little but I got a zip lock sandwich bag that just fits the Cibola

Yaw have fun

discriminator setting. When it was rejecting nails I did not have it on the lowest setting. ( I forgot:unsure: ) I had it on the mark for minimum, but it goes a little lower than that. When set to the lowest setting it will respond to the smallest nails and barbed wire. I checked this morning to make sure.

My Silver Saber UMax came in today.

Had to pay my realestate taxes, buy my son a car and cut my grass ( almost a two acre yard ). SS UMax arrived just before dark. Didn't have time to play with it very much, just enough to know that I'm going to like it. It's in great shape. It's been carried around but was hardly ever used.

I'll post after I have a chance to try them out togather.
