Just watched 3 episodes of the new "Diggers" show

I watched three episodes of the new "Diggers" program today in a row. It's more of the same crap that the other shows are. No big surprise I guess. They are way to excited about everything they find and everything is worth money. They don't even ID stuff correctly. Obvious draped bust Identified as a king George ect. More detectors sold to people who think it will be easy and make messes all over the place giving all of us a bad name. Just great
We can only hope they find their way to forums like this and we can point them the right way.

Agree! watched a couple, and the made-up words they have for stuff is pretty stupid. The producers seem to think that the detector needs to be beeping even when no target is there. Over the top excitement and made up stories on what they just found is just too much. Will not be watching that again.

I refuse to support them by watching.

I watched about 10-15 minutes worth and switched channels. No different than the rest of the digging shows. Make a find, yelling and jumping, commercial and then to the over rated monetary worth. These shows really, really suck.

I would agree an absolute load of rubbish with no meaning, the 15 minutes I did watch the targets appeared to be a total setup,as I watched them they were lifting the coils a foot of the ground on the outswing, clearly there was no skill involved in that. What a shame there wasn't a better show featuring more sincere and dedicated detectorists...........whewwww got that of my chest.....KJ

Painful...! I ran into 3 different detectorist Sunday morning on the beach I hunt...all with new gear, one had a coffee can with holes drilled in it for a scoop, the other had a colander, and the other a wire mesh fry basket...it was a regular gold rush out there....Oh well., at least somebody got out of the house and there should be all sorts of slightly used machines on the market soon...

You lasted longer than I did, I started feeling sick to my stomach within 15 minutes......:puke:

When I am channel surfing I make sure that I do not stop on any of those shows.

At one time I was an Avid Geocacher here in South Carolina. There was a gentleman that hid a bunch of caches in old (Black) cemeteries and some idiot made some comment about digging up bones and a local State Rep's staff found out about it and introduced legislation to Ban Geocaching in South Carolina. The legislature not being well informed about the hobby was ready to pass the bill into law when the Geocaching community found about it and showed up in Columbia in mass. Every male wore a business suit and the Ladies all wore dresses. We were able to get the legislation defeated.

With all the new people that are going to be out with their new metal detectors and the only information that they have is from seeing those IDIOTS on television I wonder how long it will be before Cities, Counties, and States start Banning Metal Detecting from their property. It is already against the law to Metal Detect in the parks owned by Charleston County in South Carolina. With the zeal in which politicians like to restrict our freedoms I find those "Detecting" shows to be a real danger to the hobby.

I think its funny how they run back and forth to each other when one of them find something
