just upgraded to the Deus

Just purchased a new deus from a local dealer for a great deal. And was wondering if they're any tricks I should know about or any settings for trashy pounded sites. Thanks gl and hh

try Deus Fast at first... go slow and get the feel of the machine... i had trouble at first in heavy trash so i moved away from the heavy stuff for a while to get the feel of it.... GL

Usually either Basic1 or Deus Fast are the most popular starting off ones,with the 1st option you wont hear the iron but with Deus Fast you will hear the iron buzz,then once you start to get a feel for the machine then you could try altering a few settings.

For most of the hunting conditions in the US - especially trashy sites which are different than trashy sites overseas - the Preset programs leave somethign to be desired for the most part. If you want to try them to learn the machine, try to avoid the high trash sites - not the best location to learn a new machine.

Not trying to sell you a copy of the Handbook but there are some programs for high trash in there that will work better than the preset ones will

I loaded up the high trash program from Andy's book and the Deus tones are finally talking to me as allot of people say.

I got my Deus a couple of months ago, I have stayed in the Deus Fast program so far. The recovery speed is so fast, the ability to pick targets out of junk is impressive to me. I have had several instances where I was getting a slightly decent signal, but then I noticed a junky signal very close. I figured I was just the edge of an iron target giving me a false signal. I have started digging the piece of junk out so as to hear the adjacent iffy signal. Sure enough two inches away a good old coin target. These are spots I pounded with the ATPro. More often than not, even in junk, the coin signals are quite solid with the Deus.

After a couple of months and a couple hundred hours, I figure I'm ready to start tweaking things slightly and see what happens. I'd try Deus Fast at first, it has sure been working for me!

Deus fast is what I found myself using until I started reading Andy's book. When I got to the back I found a high trash program which worked very well for me as some of the parks I hunt I think the fill they used must have come from the dump. The only thing i switched was from 12 kHz to 4 kHz and it became a coin killing machine. No I am sure I could be missing some things but the parks I am currently working are all new and I know I am mostly clad hunting. If you have not already buy the book borrow the book ... just read the book it explains a lot. I am also going to a boot-camp help by Andy at the end of June an hope to learn a lot more.
