just tried the 14" excelerator - NO GOOD

just put on the 14" exelerator on my M-6 i was so bummed after hearing all this hyp about finding dimes at 8" 10" inches i was profoundly bummed to find out it could not pick a dime up at even 4" i am excelerator shy now my 4x 6 is deeper it will detect the dime at 1" OBEE"

Bummer......... I thought those coils were killers on depth. Are you sure you have M6 coil and not wrong frequency ??

Something is not right Gunner. Did you GB over some trash maybe?

I bet he did Gb over trash, or the coil is malfunctioning. I have 8x14 DD and it's deep.
Or like I asked Maybe he got the wrong frequency by error..That would.not be a first. I was sold an 8" coil that was wrong and it hooked up but would not work properly. Wrong readings on meter, and bad depth readings.

no , i balaced as normal , but the guy i got it from said he could not find anything whith it and put it in his closet , well now i know why i dont think he was scaming me he just thout the coil was not that great it can detect a quarter in an air test at about 3 " i asked kellyco about it see what they say for shure it will not be sold againg im going to tose it in the trash

Don't give up yet. Call JW at Kellyco and tell him I sent you and tell your story. He just might make good on it.

Gunnar try what Larry suggests.JW is one of the good guys.
He will bend over backwards to help if he can.Did you think about sending it in for check up by the manufacturer.
Most of these companys will take care of problems without giving you a hard time.In fact it's such a limited specialty product line they do not
want bad product floating around any more than we want too buy it.For sure call JW first he can advise you best.

Just a thought.I do not know so bear with me..Isn't the DFX two(2) frequency 3 and 15 and isn't the MXT same ?????
M6 is only One (1) right 14.75 or something like that.

The MXT is a single frequency, 15Khz, or close to it. DFX is dual frequency. I suggested JW because he is the man to handle the problem. Kellyco is the distributer of the Excelerator line of coils. Most companies these days know the value of a satisfied customer and my guess is he will just replace it. It does sound defective and you should have an air test of at least 8 inches on a quarter.

Sorry about the name mess-up Elton and Gunner, in my first post. I'm awake now.

and we'll take care of the problem.
JW

I recommend you call JW, he will take care of the problem, he's a good guy. I am not a big fan of the 14" Exc coils but they will cover a lot of ground in a short time. In my soil the 14" Exc got about the same depth as the stock coil, which I feel gets really good depth, I can air test a quarter at 8-10" on my MXT on my stock 950. Let us know what happens and once the problem is fixed let us know what you think of the 14" Exc, I may want to try one again in the future. Good Luck & HH
