Just tried out the 3.5" x18" cleansweep-

Got this thing in the mail today. It is heavy. i quickly air tested it good readable signals at 3.5" beond that it fades out. but thats O.K i dont want to get the deep stuff just the 3" and it does fine Got out to the park i have just hunted for the 4th time dint figure i would find much but i was suprized i covered a colasal amount of ground and considering ive hunted this recently the clean sweep was impresive i left a bunch of coins in the ground i only dug the stuff in the snow easy to pinpoint this is a great coil

John LA has it right, slow down. Since I don't know which end is front, I use the short end out and go slow....I think you tend to want to rush with the CS coil...

I've found the CS doesn't even require a slower or more cautious sweep speed.
Normal seems to work fine.

I've seen no evidence it's a deep seeker from my own experience, or anyone else's comments.

Some folks use 'em with the short end out forward. That will just cut down your sweep area 10% or so.
I suppose you could use it long end forward, as I do, then turn it around opposite as the weight began to get to you.

Mine came from a Cortes operator and I keep it on my Silver Sabre uMax.

I can't recall what my deepest common coin might have been with it.
This summer I'll make note of anything deeper than normal and post it here.

whell, it is heavy , I want to make a little push cart for it have wheels on the front and the coil mounted on back and just roll forward 400 ft like im mowing a lawn just need to get the wheels and i think i can put it together will post some pictures when i do

Gunnar,I got some of the plastic material they make advertising signs out of..Cut a rectangle lenght of the clean sweep coil, and 4 inches wider.Took a hair dryer and rolled the sides up so the plastic was saucer shaped.Drilled a couple of holes and used plastic tie wraps to hold it on the coil.I don't lift at all, just scrub the ground..Still a chore, but less, plus you pick up some extra depth by not being in the air..Cordially NAD

Here's a preliminary picture of my set up to balance things.

With the aluminum tube, like in the picture, I can get enough lead shot into the tube to make the Cibola with the standard coil balance like the Compadre ... really easy to swing. Of course the whole thing is heavier, but swings easier and I find it less fatiguing that way. But I can't really balance a bigger coil without more weight.

I am looking at some scrap brass rod to put where the aluminum tube is. My goal is to be able to balance the Tejon with the 12 x 10 widescan coil. I weighed the 12 x 10 and it is 1 lb 4.5 oz. The advertisements for the 3 x 18 say 1.3 lbs ... so the the 12 x 10 and the 3 x 18 weight about the same. If I can balance the 12 x 10 so it doesn't bother my elbow, I can balance the 3 x 18.

I'll keep you posted and will include part numbers when I am happy with the set up.

Yes it pinponts right off the tip if the coin is 2" or less at 3" its an inch back from the tip its real coverage at 3.5 inches is 14 or 15 inches but for anything 2" and less its right off the tip so thear is a bow afect on deeper objects but the deeper coins will give a softer sound

Terrific! I bet letting it rest on the ground like that also takes some of the weight off. Thanks, Nad
