Hit the Ocean today 0530 for a 0730 .2L, the whole beach to myself. Went right to the lane in front of the bathing pavillion. Started working from the top of the high tide line, right thru the wet sand, and into the surf, no targets. The remnants of a cut from a few days ago when we were seeing 8-10' surf was barely visible(Of course I had to work when conditions may have been good). Spent a few hours working the wet sand, but you could see it was mostly overburden as the surf rode over the top and created pools behind it. Tried working the outflows from the pools, which were about knee deep , but even here, there was plenty of loose sand, with ripples forming in the sand that were over 6" high. Even the Slope only produced a few targets. Dug a 1965 Quarter at about 10-12 inches, a nickle about 10" and a dime and a couple of pennies at about 8-10". Switched to all metal, due to the absence of targets. Got a few extra inches of depth in the wet sand. Hit a few faint targets that did not respond in disc. Moved about 6" off the top to have them disc out as iron. Ended up hitting the dry stuff for the last 1/2hr I was there, and hit more coins then in the 2.5hrs prior. Also got a junk earring while dry sanding (got rid of some of the junk before photo). Maybe gold next time....
