Ford's rolling fireball. When so many people were getting incinerated in that fire trap Ford conducted a cost study to see how much it would cost to fix all the Pintos on the road and it came out to $12.00 per vehicle. They then conducted a study to see how much it would cost to pay for the deaths. You guessed it - the deaths won out and Ford paid for several hundred deaths rather than fix the gas tank on all the Pintos. This is a prime indicator of how much corporations care about you and your well being. Only an idiot designer would place the gas tank right against the back bumper.
