I had never actually done a search to see what type of detectors were available from stores like Walmart, Kmart, Target, ect. Well, apparently Bounty Hunter and Tecnec are the only MD companies that have taken advantage of the big name stores: however, from what I can tell they don't have their more expensive models in stores. You would think that the other MD companies would want a piece of that pie, but apparently not. Only other company that I can think of that has bitten in to this pie would be Garrett. They have MDs in Bass Pro Shop stores.

Then again, maybe its not such a bad thing that the MD companies are keeping their market out of stores. There are too many boneheads out there that would ruin the hobby for the rest of us.

The Teknetics Omega 8000 is very close to the T2. Check what T2 machines are selling for on ebay. Double original cost. With a 11 inch DD coil the omega is hard to beat. Even the Delta 4000 is a great machine. I still have a Red Tek Mark 1 which is probably the best coin mahine ever. George Payne designed most of the old Bounty Hunter and Tek machines. The newer Bounty Hunters are going to the same style. New engineers and new features. There will be a link between all three brands made by First Texas. Check the other forums for results.

This is so true. I received a new Tracker IV about a month ago. It has a Teknetics style arm cuff on it instead of the Bounty Hunter cuff. I know that this is only cosmetics but I was happy. I really like having an arm strap to help distribute the weight.

How does the arm strap work? If you want to divest yourself of the MD to dig a target, what does it take to free ones arm from the strap?

My arm can slide in and out without much trouble. I keep the strap tight enough to help w/the weight but not so tight that I have to mess with it each time I dig a target. It gets to be second nature after a while. YEARS ago I owned a White's Coinmaster Classic III with the arm strap and swore I would never own a machine without one. I am glad to finally have another one with one.

I guess I just don't understand. My arm never tires and I can actually hook a single finger under the foam grip and allow the arm pad to counter the coils tendency to drop with no fatigue at all. What am I missing regarding the strap?

I made an armstrap for my 505 but I found it to be more trouble that it was worth.. It didn't really relieve much weight & every time I put my machine down I had to slide out of the strap. Perhaps worthwhile in large areas with few targets but I removed it the same day I installed it after only a few hours. My 505 balances well for me but I do use a bungy cord & chest strap I made myself, to hold it at a comfortable level. This allows my hand to remain loosely gripped to just swing the coil using my forearm. Wrist Strap? Not worth it in my opinion, Chest Strap was much more effective. I used a gymbag shoulder strap to make a harness around my head & one shoulder, then attached a keyring at the buckle joint to which I tied in a small (1/4") diameter bungy cord with a snaphook tied on the far end. I used a hose clamp around the balance point of the shaft to hold another keyring for the snap..Adjust to where it swings an arc just off the ground at a comfortable angle & the elastic will allow other movements. BassPro Shop carries Fisher, Bounty Hunter and Teknetics. They had the T2 listed till they sold out. I bought a Delta 4000 for $199.00.

Could you call the Bass Pro store where you got the Delta 4000 detector and see if they still have them at that price and if so ask them if I could buy one and have them ship it to me?Thanks, Norm Marsh

They are in the closeout, overstock section. It is the store in Macon, Ga. which is also one of their warehouses. Have not been to store in several weeks. You can call and ask for camping dept. They may have them for same price or they can check overstock as it is next to their dept. I am 50 miles from store.

I made a strap out of a huge rubber band.
My son works at a dept. store in the shipping area unloading trucks overnight. He has brought me home a huge rubber band used for packing. It's red about 2 inches thick and 5 ft long, (10 ft if cut and measured end to end)
I took one of these and made a strap for my MT. It's nice because I have stretching flexibility, and the rubber and it doesn't slip on my shoulder.
