Just Picked up an Explorer 2 Today

Been using a quattro for almost a year - is a heck of a machine just took a while to figure out. Traded it in for an Explorer 2 today. The quattro was just not fast enough for my style of hunting and I like that I can customize dang near any setting on the Explorer 2 - So, once the weather cooperates, I hope to be posting some good finds here.

Happy huntin!!!

You got a great deal there, a Quattro for an EX.2! Make sure you get the Sunray X-1 probe for a killer combo!

i always smile when someone gets their first explorer. i alway think back on the learning curve and what it took to figure that machine out. give yourself a couple of weeks and they'll have to pry your hands off that machine. its amazing what she'll do. the x-1 is a must have. its put detecting in an phase. i see alot of guys who detect with other machines say after they hit a site theyll go back over it with their explorers.
oh boy im running later for work. good luck your in an all new world now. HH ikon

Like I said I have used the Quattro, with an X-1, for almost a year before laying my hands on the Explorer II. I took the modified shaft, modified for the X-1, off my Quattro and it is attached to the Exp II now. Looks like a Quattro/Exp II hybrid.
I have only gone out once with the Exp II (the snow is flying and the ground is frozen in Idaho), but since I primarily learned to use the Quattro via tones - I have found the Exp II not to difficult a leap.
In only about 6 hours of use, I absolutely have fallen in love with this Exp II - No longer am I having to wait for the thresh hold to reset, no longer am I getting bizarre behavior, no longer am I having to go excruciatingly slow in trashy areas, and I really like the fact that I can adjust almost any setting on the Explorer II!!!!
I have found the Explorer II to work better in the trashy area's with the stock coil than the Quattro did with the smaller 8 inch coil.
After 6 hours of use I can safely say that you can have my Exp II when you can pry it from my cold, dead fingers!!!!

"you can have my Exp II when you can pry it from my cold, dead fingers!!!!"

Now where did I leave my handgun?

That's the Explorer 2 alright, the best detector out there IMO, and to think I was thinking of getting the Quattro instead of the Explorer 2, whata mistake that would've been from all the people saying it goes SLOW. Great trade you made there.
