With all of the hype surrounding the XP Deus, I find it very ironic that there are not more "BUY AMERICAN MADE" types of folks in the USA detecting community. Especially the ones who are going after historically significant AMERICAN relics ... For all of the guys who are all "gung ho ... good 'ol US of A" .... you have no problem spending (a lot of) your money on an overseas product .. ... So much irony, it's laughable. It's even funnier because my main detector is a Minelab.

I agree with you. Thats one BIG reason I bought a White's. However, I do have a Minelab too...but I thought it was cool contributing to the Irish and Australian economy at the time. I also have a First Texas (Bounty Hunter) USA. HH. Matt

n/t

Yes ... every time you go over a good target, instead of the traditional "beep", the detector says "Oui, Oui, Oui" ...

I agree with "buy american" in principle. However, competition is what made this country great. If our mfg's cannot build better than foreign compettition....then they 'reap what they sow'. I distinctly remember the garbage automobiles of the 70's & 80's, because our auto makers felt there was no one that could build a better product than them and the consumer would automatically buy whatever they produced. We know how that turned out. Need I say more?

same with cars

I own a Minelab because of it's performance. However, American cars these days are just as good as foreign ones in terms of reliability. The last three vehicles I've owned were Ford Rangers and I put close to 300,000 miles on the first two and they were still running when I sold them and not burning any oil. Current Ranger is a baby at only 100,000 miles. Much of how long a car lasts is how well you take care of them. Don't change the oil like you should and it'll shorten the engine's life.

I generally support the idea of buying products made in the USA and the detectors I own are Tesoros and Whites. They perform well enough for me as I'm not concerned about getting an inch or two more depth, nor do I need all the possible bells and whistles. That said, basically I believe in buying/using whatever YOU like so I'm not going to pick on those that go their own way. Hope you all make great finds, whatever you use.

Critter. I agree. American auto's....nowadays...are every bit as good as foreign. But it took a major effort to bring the industry back from the brink. I just don't want to see that scenario happen to our detector mfg's.

Buy American, not from France? Get real people, look around your home and see how much product there is NOTmade in the U S A. Many of the computers that you are writing these posts from are either made or assembled in China. I use what works.

Ah ..now what we really need is a detector that is made by
union workers.

Gotta have that good old union made - American spirit.

There's no job better than a union job ...unless your some politician!

I'm sure the best stuff made is by the Alien space people. Just look at their technology. I'm interested in locating their dealers but they keep flying off. Oh well maybe they will go off and leave a detector layin around. HH

I think its good that other companies are bringing their detectors over here. Look at UK they sell it all USA,France,Germany. Every detector made maybe not the cheap ones, should have wireless headphones. Theirs no excuse for them not to. Not at $295.00 headphone Some of the detectors coming out of Turkey other countrys our blowing away Minelab others in the field. New Gold Mass power still cant get it in USA but you can get their XP Deus here. I had a Gold bug i gave to my brother seen one guy was selling one for $375 plus $25 shipping good condition. I bought a Gold bug Pro to replace my Gold Bug and it is 100% better then the org one i gave to my brother. $549 for it Why pay $400 for old one when for $150 more get the new one or $100 more get the SE makes no sense to me.Its Good detectors hold their value but something 10 yrs old or older shouldn't sell for more that 30% what it was new.

Just realizing that the auto industry is getting mixed up. I'm a USA loyalist when comming to automobiles. BUT here in the usa we have BMW- NISSAN -TOYOTA and others made right under our noses. However the Profits goes to that country.A lot of parts are made outside the USA for our cars (Ford-Chevy-Chrslr) Like Mexico and Canada. So how is one to figure what auto to buy? Same with metal detectors as Whites Garretts Detector pro Tesoro Fisher-Bounty Hunter are still here and are good detectors, but the pegboards are another matter. All are dependable just a matter of choice I guess.
