Just noticed that the recovery delay goes up to 200...

I have not tried this but I was thinking about how the recovery delay is set to 100 on "deep silver" and the filter is set to 5khz for depth.... (I think it's deep silver, it is one program). Most are set to 80... so, I took a look in the manual. I couldn't find a reference to the limits of the delay so I turned on the V3 and checked the recovery delay.. it goes all the way up to 200!
So a higher delay requires a slower swing as does a lower filter but both can increase depth.
What about ground that is really clean. I suppose you could really raise the delay and swing a little faster and still gain some more depth but I don't know. I guess it will be an interesting "garden" test.

Suppose you have some neutral ground that isn't too trashy and you've found some good relics or coins at depth (like Florida)... I wonder if you could raise the delay and really slow down and get another inch or two? I suppose the ground is a big factor but maybe by being careful and by going really slow some of those places where only the PI machines are getting down to the depth needed... maybe the V3 can compete and get down there or maybe a plot that you've cleaned out with other machines??

Has anyone tried a recovery delay above 100? Maybe it could it punch through clean fill dirt and get down to the level where the old coins lay at some sites?

Why would White's make a recovery delay of 200 a possibility if it isn't possible to use it? Hmmm...

I have never gone over 100, but give it a try and lets us know how it works for you.

I wish I had a place like that... well, I have one maybe. I will be trying it there and in the yard.

I think I'd fall asleep while I was detecting with a setting like that. Wonder if it will even perform well? Let us know. (Cool)

Ive tried it up to 120,but have found that I didnt see a lot of gain from 80-90 in the sites Ive hunted.I like hunting slow and deep for silver but still get fooled by rusty nails at these settings.I havent experimented too much from 3 freq best data.Today I hit a very trashy park and forgot to throw the 4X6 in the car,so I was stuck with the D2.Even so,the D2 managed to pick out some nice silver out of the trash.

I have tested all my coils in my test garden and been everywhere in the recovery delay from 1 to 200.

I see that most people try to down their recovery delay on the small coils but according to what I observe a higher number works better if you want to tweek depth out of them and not only seperation.

With my 4x6 and very low delay the machine gives double pips on a flat small coin and is way to fast to give other that very short pips on coins at some depth.

It is infact logical. The coil is 1/3 of the diameter of the D2 and passes the targets much faster. I get my 4x6 to signal very good on 8" coins with a delay at about 130-150. If a deep coin hide behind a ferrous item You will not get a signal both ways but you will from one direction. You will not get the same coin from either direction with the big coils.

And with delay at about 50 the small coil doesnt have enough time to signal it good enough. You can go very slow but the machine needs some coil movement. You end up with good separation but no depth to go with it if there is deeper coins there.

Atleast it is what I have found.

With bigger coils and fairly clean field You will get very deep with delay at about 150 and more. You will have to try it to get the comparizon for yourself. Not for every site but the tool is there and it works.

Wish I had a trashy park close to me like that one! Nice BH!

If your ever in this neck of the woods, get in touch,we can sift through the garbage for silver.Theres probably years of sifting to be done.:beers:

The problem there is the state of Montana is between us! Have you ever driven across that state? (...longest road on the planet!:stars:)
