I have not tried this but I was thinking about how the recovery delay is set to 100 on "deep silver" and the filter is set to 5khz for depth.... (I think it's deep silver, it is one program). Most are set to 80... so, I took a look in the manual. I couldn't find a reference to the limits of the delay so I turned on the V3 and checked the recovery delay.. it goes all the way up to 200!
So a higher delay requires a slower swing as does a lower filter but both can increase depth.
What about ground that is really clean. I suppose you could really raise the delay and swing a little faster and still gain some more depth but I don't know. I guess it will be an interesting "garden" test.
Suppose you have some neutral ground that isn't too trashy and you've found some good relics or coins at depth (like Florida)... I wonder if you could raise the delay and really slow down and get another inch or two? I suppose the ground is a big factor but maybe by being careful and by going really slow some of those places where only the PI machines are getting down to the depth needed... maybe the V3 can compete and get down there or maybe a plot that you've cleaned out with other machines??
Has anyone tried a recovery delay above 100? Maybe it could it punch through clean fill dirt and get down to the level where the old coins lay at some sites?
Why would White's make a recovery delay of 200 a possibility if it isn't possible to use it? Hmmm...
