Just noticed a CZ7a on Ebay cheap at this point but has issues.

The biggest problem it has been mounted on a S rod asm not the standard rod and can't be hipmounted.

The CZ-7a was manufactured on an S-rod assembly and was not designed to be detached and used as a hip mount. It weighs about 3.7 lbs.

Fisher then came out with the CZ-7a Pro that was designed to be able to be detached from the rod and used as a hip mount if you bought a little plastic bracket with a slot for a belt or the Fisher chest harness for shallow water hunting.

First came the CZ7 which used batteries in storage and had a slow pinpoint..CZ7A came out later which corrected these problems
but both were rod mount only units that didn't go over well so the the CZ7A pro came on the scene and could be hip or rod mounted, haven't seen it, but doubt if it has issues and was of factory design and not modded...
Actually weighed close to a half pound more than a convential CZ but the ergonomics with batteries under the armcup made it feel lighter.

I had a two CZ7a Pros sold both, which I wish they were kept.I didn't realize that the CZ7a was fixed on a S rod asm thought this was a modification by the owner. That particular CZ7a auctioned off for a high price the seller was from Canada which was my other problem always a possible custom's problem. Thanks for the information.

I just bought a NIB CZ-7a Pro from a dealer in Mn. My hunting buddy uses a CZ-7a and he really cleans up with it. Check out the posting by SPWalker to view some of his finds. The dealer has one NIB 7a left. These machines seem to be one of the best around.

Certainly the CZ7A is the best weighted and ergonomic of the line of CZ's so if you don't hipmount this rodmount is a good choice, however haven't been made in years and would have to buy used. On the other hand the CZ7 used batteries in storage and had a slow pinpoint that was fixed when the CZ7A arrived on the scene...Some prefer digital amd some analog but either way a super unit and as I post the only CZ model being made is the CZ3D...and of course the CZ21 water unit which is a remake of the CZ20...

I believe I know which dealer in Minn. you're talking about(Doug)-great guy :). I was just talking to a Fisher dealer in Alberta, Canada last week who had a brand new in box CZ-7A for sale which I did not buy...so it just goes to show you that they(out of production CZ's) are still out there if you are either lucky or persistent like me...HH

Yep. That's who it is. What was the dealer in Alberta selling the CZ-7a for?

Ouch! I paid $695 shipped for my 7a Pro. What a deal. He offers great prices on his coils too.

And a FANTASTIC, user friendly, DEEP, and well-built machine it is...I am sticking with the sister, my ultra-trusty CZ-70 Pro's with the lifetime warranties. I've tried so many others but I just keep coming back and can't give them up so I'm not trying anymore...and my wife will stop screaming since I won't have all those other new machines coming all the time that I end up selling :)
