Headed for the Va Beach lane last nite, walked one block, x-cal started screaming, dead battery, dug 2 coins and a charm.
Drive 40 mins back home to get alkaline pod, That was dead also. Charged x-cal till this morning and hit the beach again. Battery acting up again, time to switch out nicad for nimh. Gonna check out that pack for minelab on e-bay, maby get two so ill have one for Robrcer also. Its got to get better.

For $39.95 they will make you a nice NIMH battery pack installed in your Excal pod. Uses the Milelab charger. Works like a top.

As Ron said, there's no better deal on the planet than Batteries Plus. I got mine done about 2 months ago, just for the peace of mind. They replace the 700ma NiCad's with 1000ma NiMH. You charge it with the stock charger but for 16 hours due to the higher capacity. I've done 3 hunts of 4 to 5 hours with mine but have decided to charge it for 16 hours, hunt twice with it and then charge it again.
