Just joined today.

I don't know

New member
Hi, I just joined today and I'm waiting for my new 505 to arrive.
I've never done any Metal detecting and really looking forward to getting started as soon as the 505 arrives.
I live in Florida so I'll have a lot of good weather to hunt in.
I'll get back when I find my first find.

Good luck! Let us know how it handles the salt water beach.

Hello all,
Just joined today. I've had a Bounty Hunter Lonestar for about 4 years and bought an additional Fisher DD coil with it. Kellyco told me at the time the Fisher is fully compatible with the Bounty Hunter Lonestar. I'm just now getting out and gonna try it and I've found a lot on the forums that the Fisher is not compatible??? Any help greatly apprecitaed.

Thanks,
Jim

Who has told you it is not compatible? Hmmmm??? If it is the Fisher 11" DD push-in style plug, it is the one that works. If it is working for you, then you are doing fine. Welcome aboard.

welcome i dont know. the 505 will servr you well at the beach if you turn the sensetivity down, try about 9:00 also ground balance often if it gets chatty. the 505 gets confused if you have a lot of black sand ( magnatite ) play with the sens settings and you will find plenty! HH Ed in co.

Welcome,, those Bounty Hunters love the parks and school yards,, don't know about beach much,, carried my landstar once to the beach had to turn sensitivity down,, didn't find much,, had to really work with it between wet and dry sand,,, seemed to like dry better.... HH

Hey Bucksport,
thanks for the reply. The sales guy at Kellyco told me that he couldn't see anywhere that the Fisher coil was compatible with the Lonestar. He did offer to sell me one that was??? The Fisher coil has the push-in connector and fits fine. The lonestar is really chattery though. that's why i thought the coil was not made for it. the stock 8" coil that came with it seems pretty chattery as well though. In the meantime i bought a Teknetics T2 SE from Detector Electronics Corp. out of Boston. They treated me real well. I plan on my 13 year old son using the Lonestar and me using the Teknetics T2 SE. I live in west central Ohio. Got a lot of farm fields and a lot of parks to check out. My fathers property has a creek running through it and have always been curious what went on along the banks way back when. thought there might be some interesting finds there. Not to mention a couple decent sized rivers run through this area. any advice on how to hunt along creeks/rivers or any place for that matter. Any and all advice or opinions much appreciated. I'm new at this so i need all the help i can get. I'd really like my son to take off with metal detecting...HH

Thanks all

Dave J, who is the Head engineer at FT has said that the push in style plug 11" DD coil will work on all the BH products. If it is chattery try turning dow the sens.

:twodetecting: Welcome Aboard !! and Good Luck

The 505 is a GREAT machine! Ed in Co is right, this detector isn't set up for salt water. If you stay in the dry sand though, you can go to any beach and do very well. If you hunt in the wet sand, you'll get alot of false signals and be diggin for a while...so stay where its high & dry, and enjoy your loot! :bouncy:
