Just joined the "No coil detected" club, so I have a question.

I just read teleman's experience 2 days ago. So yesterday I hit a local park and 30 minutes in the beeps quit coming and I get the "NO coil detected" message in mid swing. I removed the battery pack, reseated the cables etc. It worked for about 10 seconds then was back to no coil for good.

It appears many of you have had a similar experience.

I already have an RMA from minelab.

My question is has this problem ever been more than just a bad coil? Have any of you had a failure of the control box?

Minelab said I could return the whole detector and they would do a complete check up. I would rather only send the coil. What has been your track record for this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Robert

I have the 17" coil so I put that on and there was not a problem, then I got the Coiltek coil and it worked fine so it was in the 11"coil. It seems of the Minelab coils that is the only one that seems to have a problem. I sent mine in and got the brand new replacement in 10 days, I have put it on went out in the yard and it seems to be fine but have not gone on a hunt yet with it.

I am just guessing now but it appears that there was a run of coils made originally that has a problem now while we are inconvenienced Minelab seems to be addressing the problem in a timely manner. I know it is a bummer when an expensive item has a problem but that can happen with anything that is man made. That is why a warranty is given. They will take care of you.

from what ive read its been in the stock coil so I sent mine in took a bit of run around but have had my coil back a few days now all seems fine it does not seem to be detector related all in the coils now just hope it don,t happen again. minelab should be looking into this as it does seem to be a real issue wiyh those stock coils
