I could never understand how one needle could give a proper depth reading while indicating the probable target type at the same time. How does that work?

Hey Duggr, I see that my old XLPro went to a good home:thumbup:I'll be honest with you I sure do miss the old girl :angry:But she got too heavy for this old man to swing. I hope you have had a chance to use all the coils, so you can really see what an XLPRO can do  The Pictures of the XLPRO look like it never seen the ground, she "Beautiful"

On my old Grand Master Hunter after you pinpoint the target, you release the pinpoint button and raise the search coil a bit, then the needle goes up to the number of inches in depth. Very accurate on coin sized targets. I suppose it works the same or similar way on this machine as well. So, with the needle you get target ID info, pinpoint strength indication and a depth reading. The needle also indicates ground balance, sensetivity, ore test calibration, all while making those particular adjustments. There's alot of info that one needle can give you.

By the way that is a beautiful machine pictured. Truly a great classic. My old GMH is beat to heck:rofl: I can't remember the last time it looked that good. Some time back in the 80s. Still works good though. Found me a nice little nuggy with it last Summer on the gold claim.:wiggle:

Thanks for sharing! Happy Hunting!:)

It doesnt give both depth and TID at the same time. the toggle switch will put the detector in another mode for either depth reading or TID
