Just Got The underwater Gray Ghosts!!

I just got my underwater Gray Ghosts from Vance Metal Detecting! :wiggle:Jeremy is amazing to work with. Looking forward to getting out into the surf with the CTX! Up until now have only been able to go into the water as deep as my knees! For those who have used them any thoughts or suggestions on first time out with them?

I also just purchased a set. Does the volume seem to be lower on your water set then the dry land set? I have to turn my volume up to 30. I don't have the greatest hearing, I am wondering if it will be hard to hear if I am under water or on the beach with windy conditions.

I have tested both the Gray Ghost underwater Originals and the Gray Ghost Amphibians on the CTX and feel both fall short of what they should be in the Audio. GGA's are Excellent on the Excalibur, And are better then GGUW's but if you land hunt with a good set of phones the audio of these two are poor compared to speakered HP's. Quality of the build and comfort are excellent, they need to build a set just for the CTX that are water proof....Hopefully come fall I can play with what is offered and be able to improve..

I have not used them yet, but I will let you know if I notice a difference. Hopefully this weekend I will get to try them out.

Good Luck, and Be Safe...

Yes mine too, and with my bad ears from Vietnam it sucks when you have to really listen for targets. hope they come out with a louder version soon.

The feed back I am getting is making me concerned that I wasted my money on the Gray Ghosts. I am hoping to try them out this weekend.

Well, I've got both the GG Underwater and the GG Amphibians (2 - an OBN set and one I modified)......all three leave something to be desired with volume..... put the Amphibians on the Excalibur and your darn near need earplugs due to the loudness....That is the only time I need to adjust the volume on the Amphibians.... I turn it down on the Excal and max it out on the CTX.
On windy days with the CTX I struggle to hear the Threshold which I am running at 40, volume is maxed at 30 and volume gain I vary due to ambient noise conditions....I prefer to run at 15 to help determine shallow and deep targets but on windy days, I max it out too.
