Just picked up this beauty, just back from a tune up too.
I been wanting a metal box Tesoro, for awhile.
This one answers that want.

Thats a nice looking machine and very desirable as well, never owned one myself but have used one a few years back and it did work well on a few of my trashy sites.

I like the oldies, got a couple of them, Inca & Toltec 100, the audio output is unreal.

I love mine. FWIW, you can set it on regular discrimination (I prefer minimum) and rotate the notch knob to set the two tones. I set mine where the two tones split at the most common tab(not the statab that hits as nickel). I prefer this over using the notch feature. Nickels will hit at the lower tones, most aluminum will merge the two tones, and clad will hit the high tone. It's a beauty.

Those older metal box Tesoros were assembled like the classic cars of yesteryear...works of art and built to last! I still have my original Eldorado and those older units can still make good finds today if your coil swings over them. Good hunting to you with the Royal!

I recently picked up a Golden Sabre II with a ground balance mod. Fun machine to use, not super deep but I do like the ability to set the 2 tone feature. It is a little heavy, but pretty well balanced and you can hip mount the control box to make it lighter.
