Just got my new Whites Beach Hunter 300. I may be yours in the future? :twodetecting:

Of course I had to try it out in my coin test garden. This thing is a beast. Especially super tuned all metal! Some of you know from some earlier posts that I'm going to the Destin area for vacation. The last time we took a vacation was over 7 years ago. I wanted to take a nice machine with me on this trip. My plans of course is to simply pay for the machine with finds so I can keep it! LOL If not I'll post it on the classifieds for one of you all to take on vacation. I plan to sell it pretty cheap. Oh. Do you guys wrap the cable behind you when hip mounting? Or what is your best set up? Any user tips?

i hip mount everything! here is my Excal ll

I have been there several times and always found something nice to bring home.
The water is very clear and a wonderful emerald green color.
Snorkeling to sight hunt lost jewelry laying on the bottom is fun also.
(watch the sun on your backside)
Plus, there is lots of wildlife to observe ... :look: ... all in all a very nice place to go.

The last time I was there I had a land machine. But I wanted to get in or near the water. I remember the wildlife! Usually in 2 piece Bikini's!

Also listen for (smooth) rises in the threshold w/ no ID light, most of the time it's a small non-ferrius target @ 5 inches or a keeper at stupid depth! Also sometimes you can get a "null" (machine purrs along then goes quiet, repatatbly in the same spot) in the threshold not enough exp. in the wetsand to know but maybe another looter can expand on it. If my  9.5 did not float it would be the perfect water machine! Enjoy that summer sun!!! Michigan is still wetsuit water hunting in july!!!

Hunt only in "all metal" and use the lights to id the target!!!

You can then flip the machine (toggle switch) into disc to further confirm with the tones whether or not to dig the signal.

If you setup and run the detector correctly over a deep old target you'll hear it down there!

Good luck with the yellow stuff in the scoop!!!:usaflag::whites::garrett:

Wonder if at any point, Whites would swap out the floating 9.5 for the new 10 inch D2 coil ? I got the BHID300 and like that big coil most of the time, but I think it would be cool to also have a BHID with the D2.

Curious to see if the next generation BHID does have the D2 coil. In addition, I always wondered why in all metal they couldn't make it 3 tones. I mean, the lights flash red, yellow, green in all metal, so why can't the tones be low, med and high ?

I would love that, because sometimes it's hard to see the lights in the bright sun. I used to have mine configured with the control box up near the end of the shaft, but could not see the lights when hunting in all metal ( which I do 90% of the time) I now have it mounted under the elbow and can see them a little better, but I liked the balance and the way it swings on the Anderson shaft when it's at the end.

Anyway...enough of my babble.

It is also hard to see the light when you are chest deep in water. (unless it is that clear Destin Flordia water)

I installed a 10" Excelerator coil on mine and I really like it.
It dont float now and is stable with plenty of depth.

I posted the same question a couple of days ago to Carl or Bob on the other site about whether Whites would do the conversion to replace the concentric with their new 10 inch DD but I don't think they liked that question for some reason as they won't respond with an answer. Maybe they already have something in the works for a new BHID with the DD.

Thanks for the null tip. I noticed in my test garden by raising the coil a foot I still got a rise in the threshold with no lights.

Willee that's a nice mod . I have a BHID with stock coil and been thinking of sending it in for the 300 coil
Question 1 when you say a larger coil would be to much , does that mean for out of water hunting .
2 Is the cable the same size to fit stock connector
3 How do the wire colors match up
I agree whites has been behind with coils on this machine and should have changed years ago .
The only problem is with a short cable you cant chest mount which i like but i can live with that Thanks Mike G

1. Even the "300" coil floats ... it is not neutral in the water but its much better than the older one it replaced.
I use the BHID mainly on the dry sand and really dont want to detect much deeper than about 9 or 10" .
I am fairly sure the "300" coil would detect deeper than that.

2. The watertight compression seal is rubber and will seal tightly against the outside diameter of the new coil cable.
One of the internal wires (black one) is smaller but it connects with the metal teeth in the connector just fine.
Have not had any intermittent problems yet.

3. White's is red core shielded and clear core shielded. The EXcelerator coil is black core shielded and clear core shielded.
I connected it like the black core cable was the red one.

Yes ... that is a short cable and might not be long enough to hip or chest mount.

The 300 goes deeper than what you have listed. I absolutely want to dig the deepest faint targets as the old gold is deeper down there!

It sounds like the Excelerator doesn't go that deep but is completely neutral in the water. The 300 is easy to keep on the bottom for me and I need all the power that it offers.

One other thing, not being able to hip or chest mount the machine is something that's important to me.

Just my thoughts on this, all the best!

you should try a swim in LAKE SUPERIOR :yikes:even in Aug. its still only about 45 deg. if it gets that warm i jumped in from a coast guard ice breaker in the middle of the lake from the second deck
about 20 ft up and by the time i got back aboard the ship (about 5 min.) you could see your breath (the captain called it a swim call we called it a wake up call):rofl:things you do when your young???
