I've noticed that the arm rest has a little wiggle even with the screw tight. I don't want to over tighten it, should I leave it alone or try to remove the arm rest all together to see if I can place shim in there somehow?

Never noticed mine wiggle at all. But I still replaced it with a Herke arm cuff. The factory original (even when stable) is still crap.

Is it the factory armrest or an aftermarket? Ive never had a factory one wiggle.. My after market one wiggled but added a thin foam sheet shim to take up the slack and also protects the handle from scratches and seals the openings a bit.... wildherre

It should come off easily for your inspection. I don't like the factory armrests that come with the Explorer's/E-trac's and have replaced them as first order of business. The factory armrest has a bit of a V shape to it. See pic.

There are some aftermarket armrests where the arm cuff is more U shaped. They are sturdier and MUCH more comfortable. I am sure somebody can send you some contact info if you are interested.

The Herke cuff and stand along with the minelab neoprene cover is amazing.

Hi,

On my used etrac the arm cuff was not loose. The screw kept it snug without rattles. I did unscrew it to install a cordura dust cover that fits over the length of the battery compartment which snugged it up even more.

There's a certain amount of flex in the stock cuff that from I understand is not present in aftermarket ones. Personally I don't mind the flex and I don't use the arm strap either. Its a matter of personal preference. But if it breaks I will get a better one though.

Thanks

Bik
