If you get tired of digging zinc pennies and pull tabs use the notch feature. If the notch feature is setup correctly you'll find plenty of coins and silver jewelry and still have a good shot at some gold jewelry without digging a lot of trash. I have the old tone version and setting it up is different from the new tone version. Mike Hillis can fill you in on the new tone one. He has written some really good stuff about the Golden.
