Well I've only had a few minutes to play around with my Gold Bug this evening, and only took it outside for a few minutes. With the little coil it would air test a dime at about 7 and a half inches with sensitivity maxed out. I rarely can get my Omega over 70, Since I'm pretty much just a relic hunter, I like the two tone system, although I haven't had much of a chance to mess with it. Build quality is very good, like the Omega, but when I got it it had a small black spot under the screen, which has no effect on the operation of course, but I'm sure I'll send it in when First Texas has time to fix it, if that time ever comes. They've absolutely set the detecting world on fire with all these new detectors. I'm not brand loyal in any way, but the competition better take notice or I'm afraid they'll get left in the dust. In my little test garden I've got a 3 ring minnie bullet buried at 8 inches. The little coil hit that easily with an accurate ID in disc, so that's really good news. I like the ground phase comparison to ground balance numbers in all metal. Lets you know if an adjustment is needed. But for the most part I'll probably hunt in disc with no or little disc, maybe enough to knock out small iron. When I get time I'll compare the small coil on the Omega vs. the Gold Bug, and do the same with the big DD. In the end I'll probably put the small coil on the Omega for hunting old house sites, and the big DD on the Omega for relic hunting. Looks like ole' Dave's got a lot to be proud of with this one. Keep 'em coming.
