Just got my 1st real digital camera......................

This last week i was able to purchase a FujiHS10 bridge camera,it had been bought by a guy who did not have a clue on how to use it,long story short i basically bought it for a 1/10 of what he paid for it and he never used it,but boy is it a great starting out camera.

It will certainly do exactly what i want from a camera and more,my plan is just enjoy it and use it for 'general' use rather than a special niche like wildlife, action or sports.

I am lucky that i have a new puter with not only a 1TB hard drive but also a 1TB external backup drive for storing all the photos that i have taken, the puter was one that i had planned for another project but then it just sat doing nothing so it seemed logic to use it for storing all the photos on,as it only takes one virus and it can take out possibly years of memories, but having the external drive should act like a insurance policy but the plan is also detach the external drive from the main puter when not doing backup just so that no virus can pass to the external drive. This may seem like over kill, but its better being safe than sorry.

The FujiHS10 has a rather nice lense, that cover WA and great fo takingr long distance shots as well, the camera reviews seem to give it a average rating, but that does not worry me as what is the perfect camera.I am a total newbie and i would say that it has not been invented yet and also what camera totally suits one person may not suit another one.

One thing i have noticed in general is that men usually want the latest and most expensive cameras going,of course if they have a very deep pocket then good luck but like detecting having the latest and most expensive detector on the planet does not make you a better detectorist.

Its all about having fun, enjoying the hobby and experimenting and being artistic,i of course could well be totally wrong but i have always wanted to get into photography but that was about as far as it went,i did buy a good 35mm setup about 30 years back but then lost interest like men usually do and then started another hobby or more than likely the family and mortgage came along.

Anyway as the weather is pretty dire over here in the UK i doubt i will be able to get out and take some pictures till the weekend, but i will post some interesting images from around the are which goes back to before roman times 2000+ years.

These are just my personal thoughts and opinions and nothing else,i tend to buy something this could be a detector, camera or what ever and tend to keep it for a long time but learn everything about it that i can,i am not a person who goes chasing after the must have latest golfing, camera accessory that costs a fortune as that in my mind does not make you a better golfer that type of thing, but it does make great conversation down the local club that i have the 2014 latest super super gizmo

Great forum,so keep up all the good work.

It appears that you have purchased a nice bridge camera, one that is capable of producing some great pictures. I hope that you enjoy using it and will post some of the pictures you take with it. Please, never lose sight of the fact that it is all about having fun. Kelley (Texas) :)

Hi Rick,

Digital cameras are the neatest gizmo for taking instant photos that rival film cameras of the past.
Long ago, the picture you took with a film camera was nerve wracking. Question always was did the picture turn out as intended?
And you had to wait for the film and pictures to be processed to see the results.
These days, for the most part you can instantly view the picture after taking, if no good, delete and retake.

A digital camera a few years old are still great to use. Like detector guys, camera guys like to update every year or two. You can get some great deals
from them.

I use this site to determine if I might buy a new digital or to review and compare them
