looks like i might be a month or so before i get my etrac out after starting on my etrac handbook by andy.I have a lot to learn. My land

It's not really that bad. Skip the parts that deal with the Explorer. Read the book, then play with the detector. PLay with the detector then read the book again. After a 2 or 3 times, everything should sink in pretty well and you wont fee; so overwhelmed.

Don't Sweat it bro. The words take lots of room to explain a machine that really is quite simple. In fact you will not have to make adjustments every time you hunt unless you get into it. Here are some Cliff notes about the book...Whether you came from the Dark side (minelab) or not (whites & others) you will not need to read about the older machines ( EX SE XS whatever) that is unless you are reading about your Etrac and it references something that you want to or do not understand. That takes up the first quarter of the book. The Last quarter is mostly about other Dig Heads that can give there knowledgeable opinions of how they use there Minelab in certain conditions and in the 3 quarter of the book is basically tips and techniques and suggestions on different types of hunting, beach, relic etc.
I'm sure Andy will hate that I just synops'd his book like that but If you use the book to study by topic of what is important to you then you will not be overwhelmed and see how simple the E is. Master what you need first then you can read all the other things of interest when you have more experience and time. I still read the book and search it just to see if I might want to tweak the machine for each different hunt if I feel the need. It is full of great tips and information and I take it with me to new sites.

Andy if you read this don't be ticked at me I'm just trying to help a new Dig Head get out and finds some cool stuff.

I also suggest you find the Etrac emulator on line (free) and play with it on you computer...its fun and easy to learn the uses of each button with it.

good luck,
utahshovelhead

Thanks a great deal.Etrac will be here tomorrow i know i wont sleep a wink.
