WHAT KIND OF COIN IS THAT. THE ONE WITH ALL THE RAYS EXTENDING FROM WHAT LOOKS LIKE A HAT.

That's a 1896 Mexican 8 Reale. 90% silver. At one time they were used for international currency. It is said, back in the old days, that when a man became a Texas Ranger, they took one of these and made his badge from it. I don't know that for sure though. Found this one at the edge of an old building foundation at 7" with my 1250. The ridges around the outside have been shaved off as well a chunk has been gouged out as you an see in the pic.
