Whites Eagle II SL 90.5..Forgot how much I liked, and found ,with that machine... It's got good depth and once you learn about the double stacked prompts it's a do it all detector.
I took it out back and tested it in coin garden..It nailed a 7" dime with no problem.....It may be 18 years old but it's still an up to date, darn nice detector.
If the weather will just break a little I will take it out for a test run this weekend.

..Anyone got good advice on how to get the most out of this Eagle II SL..
I may take my XLT E- Series and compare hits on how they both respond to actual in the ground hits....Any help will for certain be appreciated.
Thanks All.

I've been using the SLII since 1990. It is simply a GREAT MACHINE. I've used it along side MXT's and about every other Whites (New and Old) out there. I have never found any other machines signal that I couldn't pick up also with the standard head. There may be other makes, but I haven't run into them. It's very stable and I love the high tone beep. I set the low (Ferrous) tone to a low freq. so I can really tell the large iron signals. I push the Signal Balance high to where the logo cuts out then back off of it a little. I converted my machine many years ago to a hip mount since I've been hunting since 1968 and my arm has about had it with heavy machines. I've added a few photos to show you. Very easy change over since there is only one knob to be bothered with. I also moved the coil connector to the side of the machine and as you can see turned the head unit around. It hangs closer to the body and weight is at the bottom of the unit.. It also gives you a place to rest your left hand, and the machine could be set up for a left handed person if needed.

The Eagle II Sl is just as deep as the XLT.I have used them side by side alot and the SL always seems to have a better target lock and sound.
Once you get use to the 14 touch pads you wont like the 5 touch pads on the XLT.
I sent Whites a picture of how I think they should change the touch pads on the DFX and XLT by adding 5 short cut pads that would make the XLT or DFX a better detector.
I have found alot of tricks with the SL90.5 that help.
I do away with the "S" Rod and use a straight rod and I use a lighter carbon zinc battery pack.
Another thing I do is I have a decal I made up that I put on the bottom of the detector that tells what the Edit advance controls do,Also it tells what the pads do with the trigger pulled and when you press the Edit control............This should have been painted on the box.....Once you put this on the bottom of your detector box it makes it alot easier to use.
Another thing that people don't know about is you can go in the Edit control and change it so it will be used as a ground balance control in ANY program or whatever you set it to do....But I have lost the book that tells how to do it......... .
I will post a picture when I get a chance.....
