People need to know their detector.
The V3 is a great unit as is. Magic actually preferred his V3 over his V3i. The V3i seems to be more stable but many people with the V3 are doing great already. Before the upgrade people were happy with their units.
My V3 never had a problem with the pod screws and very few did. It was a early production thing.
So far I haven't had to use the salt ground option.
I don't use any of the analysis screens. I don't need them.
I don't use the on board manual, as I know my detector, and this feature doesn't improve performance.

I only need the English language so I don't use that feature.
Most people don't use mixed mode so they won't use the new stereo mixed mode either. I do use this.
The coil matching feature is great,
I like it. Some people I hunt with don't pay that much attention to this feature.
Is it a great upgrade, yes indeed. Do I have it yes. With the type of less extreme hunting some people do will they notice the difference,
I'm not sure. With the type of hunting some hunting that many people do, do they even need the capabilities of a V3, NO. It was like when I had my MXT, I knew people who never used the relic or prospecting mode, never, so they might as well have had an M6.
If you
want or need the features get it. If you are not having problems and are doing well, ????? Then it is up to you.
