Just found an Elite brand new, took it out on a good site for relics, no luck, need some help

Hello , it is very easy to set ...

Follow this setup :

Disc. Zero
Notch zero
Sense. Auto
Thresh (barely audible)
Band 2
Variable tone
Discrimin mode on

Ok now ...

Switch mode switch to all metal to GB
Yes .. You have to ground balance this machine , and it's easy.

While in this mode with the other settings set ... Bob coil up and down while listening to threshold ( stable tone )
Once , stable , switch back to disc.mode
And hunt for treasure !

Good luck :clapping::minelab:

Would you do this with the sov xs2a pro?

The XS2a dont have a toggle to switch to band 1 or 2, but I beleive it is set in band 2. Otherwise it is the same and set the same. I dont know where some come up with it has to be ground balance, but in disc it dont need ground balance and on the GT I know you can and then lock it for prospecting. Maybe some have luck when using all metal, but I think this is on the GT only.

Most don't GB sovereigns for some reason , but check out what I mean by DOING a simple GB .
Some feel you just set up and go ... Um maybe not .

IN AllMetal , ( no matter the other settings except threshold) , set a low audible tone ... Pump coil area times AND listen to the threshold ... It WILL actually smooth out ... The BBS needs to get an idea of the soil makeup , it's digital tracking system ( in all metal only ) can be at a range it will adjust , don't just turn on and go !

Anyone that says they never GB , is losing out ... What other machine don't you GB ? ... Pulse maybe ...
Sovereign is still a Vlf machine last time I checked ..

My xs -2a always stay where I want it and if I suspect " drifting " , I find a clean spot and pump coil briefly ( in all metal it is ridiculously easy )

I also do the same with my GT ... I mean why else is there a auto tracking feature if you don't get the machine stable from the start ?

Take the other comments with a grain of salt ... Try this and you will see
:detecting: :nono:

The most important factor when comparing detectors, with and without
BBS circuitry, is that BBS-based detectors have the ability to hunt even in
the most mineralised areas at maximum performance without the need
to manually ground-balance the detector.
As soon as the Sovereign Elite is turned on and swept across the ground,
the ground mineralisation is analysed and then compensated for by
the microprocessor. This ensures that the Sovereign Elite can locate
targets deeper than other units, due to its automatic
compensation of changing ground conditions.
This is what is different with the Sovereigns as they don't need to manually ground balance as soon as it sees the ground it compensates for the ground conditions unlike other detectors. On the GT it has a auto ground tracking in all metal where in fast changing ground conditions while prospecting it can be locked so it don't track out a good target. This is what I have to do on the MXT when I use it and get a weaker signal and want to check it out further so it don't track out the signal I am trying to check out to see if I want to dig or not. Never have that problem with the Sovereigns in disc as it will not track out a good target.
