I was looking at the specs for the mx5 and it seems that the mxsport shares a lot of things with the mx5. A few extra settings and the waterproofing but other than that.... Is it just me ?

MX Sport has more programs, Prospecting, Relic (mixed mode of all metal & discriminate), and High Trash. The MX Sport is more like the MXT/Pro. There is also rejected tone or target volume that is adjustable from 0-100%. Accepted targets tones are 1,2, 4, 8, & 20 which is a tone for each of the descrimnate bins on the MX Sport. I have both and both are great detectors, but the MX Sport has faster processor and faster target response than the MX5. MX5 is deep and hot on coins and small targets. But if you are in iron or trashy areas the MX Sport will pull out more good finds out of the ground. MX Sport is more of a do all detector and water proof.
