I can't get it up here, but watched a preamble to the series. Last years episodes were discontinued.......are they any different, better, worse this year?

I asked this same question!!! the majority of the answers i got were
not good for the show see my 2-17 post does anybody watch this show

I htink its kinda silly they are lucky they get to :detecting: in some
REALLY good spots but i dont tink i could stay out in the field with
either of them for very long! Im not jealous i just think they should be
a bit more ??? professional for lack of a better word and unless my tv
is real bad it looks like the do some sloppy digging as well !

I havent met anyone that uses the terms Cologn STER or CIv

Geez

but i bet its a hit and will be on a while!

If the things where not planted for them to find, I seriously don't believe they would even know how to set there detectors to find anything but pull tabs lol

i like it and to be honest, i think they are good for the hobby. they are actually recovering history for museums, archaeologists, etc. i dont understand why they get so much heat for acting goofy. they are just having fun and the show would be boring without it. they also swing garrett at-golds and anybody who swings a garrett is OK in my book!!!

I agree with Big Boar.....I like the show...makes me laugh how some get angry about it...now the show american diggers with ric savage I dont like...thats show is totally fake. I think the diggers guys are pretty legit. I enjoy the show.

we think alikecandrew! american diggers should be removed from the air.. bringing in backhoes, busting through walls, sidewalks, etc.....now that is what is bad for the hobby!!!

I just watched the episode in Gettysburg. They didn't find much but gave it a shot. They are a little off the rockers but it's TV & supposed to be entertaining.

I could try and climb that tree if a bull was after me or a pack of wild dogs. Can you just imagine if you asked a female metal detector user if she had found any round stuff lately? I can see how that could be missinterpreted as being vulgar and you're just using the language from that show.

I'll have to admit that I like the show. I wish they'd can the goofy behavior, jargon and bets though. I think they'd get more detecting done if they didn't run across the site for every find other than trash. I've never met a metal detectorist who acts like these two guys do and I hope I never do. I don't know, but I suspect that the show's production staff came up with all the goofy stuff to try and boost ratings. I suppose that if I were the star of the show nobody would watch it because I just detect and that's it, no diving through dog houses, chasing greased pigs, or tar and feathering.

There are several things I do like about the show though. I think they are pretty realistic about what they find, though the estimated value is probably inflated. Stating that they are hunting for a gold coin and then finding one is pretty far-fetched though. At least they do a good job of showing what you could find. This morning at work one of our secretaries told me she's seen the Diggers show and asked me how much a good metal detector would cost. I loaned her my copy of Western & Eastern treasures and recommended the Garrett Ace 250 as a good machine for beginners.

I really like the show. It's the same two guys that made the series EMD (Extreme Metal Detecting) I think there are like 9 in the series. They are really cheesy but the finds are all real. I think they act like that to cancel out the boredom of hours in the field during their first EMD series to pass the time and have fun and some of it carried over into the natgeo series. Nobody wants to watch a boring old guy with no reaction to anything. Yea they are goofy but that's the point I think. If the finds are staged at least they don't look like it like Rick Savage..."Hey look at this completely in tact pirates sword and this huge milk can full of coins that just happened to be out in the middle of the bayu BOOOM BABY!" BULL S*%T BABY!!!!

Not worth watching; they are total idiots. I've never seen anyone act or talk that way in all my years detecting. Hope I never will.

They've kind of grown on me, I guess. I don't care for their antics, but it is somewhat entertaining if there's nothing else to do. I like Lord's of War also. The other night this guy said: "I'm happier than a flea on a fat dog" You can't get much happier than that. lol

There must be a dozen threads about these two guys on the forum. I'm sure when the cameras aren't on & the producers aren't telling them to spice it up they would as "normal" as the rest of us....or not! lol
They get to hunt some really amazing locations.....jealous? Hell yes I am.
I've seen every episode this year & even went to the TEAM ATC website where by the way you can get some background on these guys & watch videos of them actually filling in their holes.
Can't say I like the crawling thru the doghouse or hanging in the trees but all in all, it's not worst thing on TV. This is still the USA, you have the right to piss & moan all you want or you can just change the channel!

One thing I have noticed about the program is that they seem to work closely with museums, universities and often have an archeologist with them...and a great deal of their finds go directly to those facilities...honestly...that reflects well on our hobby. Sure they act like clowns...I am sure at the behest of the producers and directors to add "spice" to the program...but I can live with that aspect of it even if it is a bit annoying.
