I can't get it up here, but watched a preamble to the series. Last years episodes were discontinued.......are they any different, better, worse this year?

My thoughts only....... the show does not show our Hobby as a complete bunch of idiots. At no time during my time in this hobby have I jumped up - ran - Screamed or acted like
I or my partner have never found a thing. Must of the time I don't know the finds until we get back to the truck.

Being from Montana and owning an AT Gold I guess I am quite biased. The first time I saw the show I did not own the ATG and I liked it. I did not even know what detectors they used when I bought mine. Of course now I really like the show. One good reason is not nearly the anxiety the gold shows from Alaska have. I have turned those shows off at times because I couldn't stand them. I enjoy watching the Diggers show because they have a good time and they always give me a good chuckle. I could give some criticism like the sound track is not accurate or it never shows them digging the faint targets, but I'm not losing any sleep over it. I always record the show in case I don't get to watch it.

I watched some previews today....and they are running all THIS years currently released episodes today on NatGeo. My only real issue is the Stupid dialog they use. Civ, Ster, Nectar, Roundness, Tok, Juice....It makes me want to scream...Just use the real works...Civil war, Sterling, Coin, Token!! I think Garrett should sponsor me instead...LOL...I could give them a way more exciting show...Most of us here on the forum could!! Just my 2 cents

I have not watched the show but I have seen a couple of episodes of Gold Rush. I was disgusted with the rape of the land. I should watch an episode of Diggers. Hopefully there's some respect there.

I think those two guys are idiots. They send the message that people out metal detecting are bozos and disrespectful to property owners. Whos going to want to give permission to real enthusiasts when they see these guys screaming, running and jumping and climbing trees in peoples yards. Come on now. Ive only been detecting for a little over a year now and never acted that way!

I like it. They seem to have fun detecting and that is why I detect, to have fun. Just because they have fun in a less than traditional form than others doesn't make them bad or others better. To each their own.

I have Nat. G. but I have not seen this new show. Actually this is only the second time that I have heard of it. I do remember that " Boom Baby" thing that made my skin crawl. After that show started airing, strangers began to see me as a bit of a carpet bagger that would rape their dog if left alone in their back yard.

much much better the the american digger series a little over the top behavior at times but i enjoy this show as it deals with history take the coal mine war story i had never even heard about it but using thier detectors they helped map out the battle line red flagging dig sites and working with some one knew more about this process a sientist at that this does not hurt our image at all and they don,t over play dollar value of items found it,s always more about the history so i,ll keep watching the finding of roundness and civ and necter i,m even hearing abit of the talk on this site lol good hunting all

First the savage family diggers makes me cringe and uncomfortable. I love the Diggers, goofy antics aside they show us in a more accurate light. Their enthusiasm is unrestrained and I can identify with that but I don't swing from trees or roll in the standing water or draw attention to myself. If I'm totally out of public view and make a good find the happy dance commences with a fist in the air. I could dig a neater plug in most of their locations and always use my drop sheet. But hey, if the property owners are ok with what they do, fine. It would be nice just to see a neater retrieval technique demoed by them because the general public is watching. I'd like to hunt with them and see what they are like for a couple beers after the hunt to wash the dust out.
I like my winter diggers fix. Go Ringy & KG!

Great writers for the show - it's all in the script.

I think its a great show.. They're havin fun!! Juice in the Hole Baby!!!!
For those that haven't seen it heres an episode......... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFiyE98CxQU

Watch part one of a double feature and could not take it any more. A flat button worth $50!! then a Confederate Wreath bukle worth $25!!!!! something backwards there. They are goof!!! sliding down a hill because he found a coin!!! Nada!!! JMO

Although the show brings a little history into the hobby and promotes metal detecting, it is unlikely that many would stoop to the antics, screaming, jumping up and down or making a fool of themselves in public as they do. In that aspect, it makes the hobbyist look immature. The other program (Boom Baby - Savage Family) basically makes us, the detecting community, look like character's from the old "Deliverance" movie. Not fond of it at all.

I'm with ya NVGrndpndr. Their antics turn me sour. However, I do watch the program and I like the fact that they include some historical perspective to it. However... that Savage "Boom Baby" program is just crap as far as I'm concerned. Just my opinion...and it probably isn't worth much as I am a very raw beginner.

Thanks for the posting of that video Dawg! I loved it. These guys take the right approach and get permission to hunt and dig. Their enthusiasm (as displayed) is exactly what I feel when finding cool stuff! It's well done and hey, it's a TV show, so there's some theatrics. I don't do a dance when finding cool stuff but that's how I feel. I see it as promoting the hobby and also, the property owners are brought in at the end and they are cool with it. I fail to see any harm in this.

I have watched the show for some time. They use the detector that I use, and as such, I am able to glean a little more knowledge here and there. I understand that the show is probably scripted. It contains almost similar idiotic antics like Gold Fever. I do know that Gold Rush is scripted also as I have a friend who is close friends with the Hoffmans. Having said all that I understand television is all about ratings and I guess they are doing what they do for a reason. Personally, though, I do not like the screaming, yelling and idiotic lingo. I will continue to watch them, though, because I absolutely love metal detecting.

Same here, I watch it because it's about metal detecting, but those two acting like idiots is a bit much. That's "reality TV" for ya...

I havnt missed a show yet...I think its great.....& I dont think it has a bad impact on our hobby at all except for maybe a few months from now equipment will be sold cheap on the internet!
