Just Curious....How Many Here Use Rechargeable Batteries In Their Metal Detectors?

I detect often, so all my units use rechargeables. I save so much $$$ using them. I just can't imagine going to Costco often to buy alkaline batteries, then just throwing them in the garbage. What are your thoughts?

Same here, John. Sometimes have to run to a store for alkalines if my rc's run dead but I sure try to avoid it if I can.

On rare occasions have they gone dead.. 4 AA for back up solves that issue.

I use rechargeables. 9 volt HI Tech Lithium Ion 600 mah and Ansmann AA 2850 mah both from Horizon battery.

Use rechargeable for EVERYTHING.

Rechargeables all the way with chargers and AA's in the survival bag.

Hi,
I also use rechargeables in all of my detectors.
There is a difference in quality though.
I have found the "eneloop" brand made by Sanyo to be one of the better ones as they have a very low self discharge rate when not in use and keep charge when in use for quite a long time.
Beware of astronomic capacity ratings that some "made in China" brands claim - well over 3500 mA/h in an AA unit - that`s BS
My Classic III uses three 9V cells and I use rechargeables for smoke detectors - they somehow don`t last as long as alkalines, so for that reason I always carry spares.
I even use them in my Pro Pointer.

skookum

Believe it or not, Garbage Freight has pretty darn good rechargeables. I've been using mine for about 4 years now and they seem to hold a charge for a very long time. For the money they're hard to beat.

rechargeable, Vapex, Soshine. Eneloops .

working on some Lithium packs in time no hurry :bouncy: but they are coming.

So you can put lithium AAs that are higher that 1.5 volts?! Seems like they would damage the detectors..
I pay less than $1 for my 9 v and 3/$1 for my AAs so not too worried about it. Just curious. Thought about trying them.

big bunga's \ :bouncy:
