[size=small]Well, I'm still around and so is this hernia.
Been getting into trouble - doing things that need to be done and aren't getting done by the people we paid to do it - I can't sit around watching grass grow under my feet when the shop needs to be completed.
So I have been lifting things (dry wall and digging a huge hole) I shouldn't be doing to help things get done faster. Endangering my life is what Sherry is worried about. Losing money is what I see happening the longer it takes to get the shop done. Sherry doesn't like losing money but doesn't want to lose me to an early death.
Anyway, I'm trying to be a good boy. Sold the Fisher 1280x. Bought a musical instrument cheap. Maybe I can learn to play it. I've tried guitar, banjo (til I had to sell it), harmonica - best I could play was Taps), electronic keyboard - gave it to my nephew, a bugle that I had painted blaze orange and tried burning off the paint - amazing how many pieces it is when the solder comes loose. Wanted to play music most of my life but just never seemed to be able to. Maybe lack of a teacher, wasn't 'talented' in that area or needed an instrument that was easy. Player pianos are easy but to too hard to carry around.
I got a great deal on an instrument I think I can master - spoons - no just kidding LOL. As I was leaving a Wal-mart I saw something marked down - big bucks ($198 marked down to $150, then to $100 and then to $50. I bought it not knowing if it was any good for anything - maybe an eBay item to make some money. Took it home and Sherry loved it right away. Sherry can play piano, ukulele (?), electronic keyboard, and other instruments - she is musically inclined with a big degree in music to go with it. She has taught piano and did music ministry in a church, plus other things. For this to impress her was a good thing. As I mentioned I know nothing about instruments.
It is a digital soundcard guitar called a QChord (http://qchord.net/)
Sherry said it does more than her electronic keyboard. Casey is musically inclined too but already lost interest in it. Sherry would love to have it for her own but knows I want to learn to play an instrument so is giving me the opportunity to learn how to play it. We hope one day to play our instruments together and sing as a family in church to praise God.
Sherry says I am doing very well so far. I figure God gave me the opportunity - at a great price - (this usually retails for $229) and the instrument to learn how to play music. I feel since God has done this for me that I want to use it only for Praise and Worship and so my first song I am working on learning is "That's Why We Praise Him".
Right now it is too hot to do much of anything but did do some more practicing earlier. Maybe I can learn to sit back and learn to use this and keep me out of trouble with Sherry - doing things she'd rather I not do.
I did get a 2nd QChord and was thinking of selling it on eBay - imagine the profit - buy at $50 and sell for the going price of $169. My sister-in-law Gwen is the new owner of that one. She has been wanting an auto harp and this is so much better than that - no tuning!
Still wanted to try to sell one or more on eBay so drove down to West Branch and they had none at all. Something to keep in mind is that had I not bought these when I did Wal-mart would soon throw them into the trash compactor. What a waste that would have been. As it is both I and my sister-in-law are both Christian and we both would use our QChord's for praise and worship. I can't help but believe God will give me whatever I need to learn this instrument - knowing He made it possible for me to get it before it was destroyed, get it at such a great savings and from some of the money from the Fisher 1280x.
BTW lately there has been a problem with swimmer's itch in the lakes up here. Timing of selling the Fisher was more than coincidence. Anyway, we are alive and sweatin' like most other folk. 96 degrees here right now with a heat index of 110 degrees. Normal temps here this time of year is 82 degrees.
Praying that God is meeting everyone's needs. Hoping you are all getting out to do some detecting. I haven't done any in awhile now. With the price of gas - well - QChording is cheaper than detecting and can do it inside out of the heat of the sun.
