well I'm about to buy an mxt pro, many of you have told me that 6 x 10 is the best coil for nuggets, but also have told me that the 4 x 6 is good also, and some of you have told me 5.3 is the best!

I'm interested in gold Nuggets which coil is the best??:stars:

If you search past posts, a lot of nugget hunters liked the 6X10 for working tailing's and flatter grounds. The 4X6 was used a lot in streams and around rocks where the 6X10 was just too large. Although the 5.3 will work, the DD coils will do better in the very mineralized ground that nuggets are usually found in because of the smaller footprint and better mineral rejection. You can also contact MD clubs in the area where you are considering going hunting and ask for advice from the guy who are out there on a regular basis. You might even make some friends and have a "guide" and hunting partner as well.

[size=large]as larry pointed out, it's dependant on what your terrain is like. it's around $65.00 a year to join the nat'l prospectors association. if you're serious that alone is worth the info those folks will provide in where to hunt how to hunt and the best equipment to use. they hold their own claims all over the country. you can attend one of their meetings as a quest just to get a feel for it and probly get a lot of info doing that.
if you're trying to specialize your hunt then you got the wrong machine. you got the right one if you're looking for the best all around. in the case of the mxt your looking to to end up getting other coils. so, is the choice based on just gold prospecting, or you can get only one coil and need it for all around use? what really is the average size of gold that's being found as aposed to the hype? where is it found? i hope you got a reality outlook on what those prospectors do to find their pot of gold.

G Day Richgold, if you check out B_Ts post on that coil on Their web site at Goldsearch Australia you will see what that 5.3 can do even in bad ground
and in OZ you will find some of the worst ground in the world and also it will pull dimes from over 9",
I went with the 6x10 and the 5.3, I did'nt trust the 5.3 when i first got it then one day i tried it and all i can say is you will be shocked,
but go to that web site and see for your self what he does with it, It will handle anything you can throw at it
and he is using it for prospecting so good luck

hope this helps,
